Ok, I really, truly don't understand this. I've read he Government's press release, I've read the document and a dozen or more stories and I can't understand what the company was legally supposed to do.

What I haven't found out is how the company verified that some candidates were citizens. The company has an obligation to verify that candidates can legally work in the U.S. and can be fined if not.

Would they have been all right if they had demanded something from a list of possible documents, a U.S. birth certificate being one of the choices?

Didn't we just get over that crap and had it all settled? Who started that up again. I smell the not so fine hand of the ACLU again. Next time you run into one of them make them prove their citizenship.

I thought I was required by law to have everyone fill out the I-9 form.
