Comments only to boost personal points

Has anyone else noticed that some posters just post again and again saying nothing pertinent? Presumably they need to see their point totals on the leaders list. Yes, I mean you. Producers? Nope, just wasting bandwidth and eveyone's time.

Question as you will. My comments are not targeting anyone in particular. Let your conscience be your guide. I have limited bandwidth in my locale, and thats the only personal motivation for making this observation public. Just interested in getting maximum value from a scarce resource.

yes I knew you were having a little fun. Sigh, what is the point if we can 't hone life down to a "lol " or "me too " occasionally. Frankly, I find those sites with the rules for posting which take up an entire page tedious. Makes me want to go say something all fancy and throw Ayn in without her last name.

Hi kh. After my pearls there may not be much else to say. All puffery appreciated, yes it is like a conversation when another person nods a head in response to a remark. Even when you know you have said something mind-bogglingly brilliant it is good to get a nod. A few lols and +1s waste bandwidth and time to an infinitesimally small extent. Warning- this, again may not be a serious post from me. Some people are enjoying themselves too much. What I find bothersome is the use of long words, not 'infinitesimally' as this is of course used all the time, but for example' epistemological' which is a word if used twice per paragraph sends me to sleep. Do not let MM see this, he is otherwise a fine chap.
Another amusing thought, people have unique writing styles.

As you know thumbs up on this site is anonymous since this appears to be directed at me let me say those rejoinders are like having a conversation. I question your motivations here. You use a username designed to make your point which leaves me wondering if you contribute under another name and have a large personality on the site already. Hmmm

    Love those pearls, Lucky.
Censorship is for people who use force to control others, not the objectivist way.(as you know)
Point is people should think before repeatedly making comments like:
    lol
    yes
    exactly
    me too
    ahh
    +1

Cripes, if you agree with a comment or idea then click the thumbs up which actually gives a credit point to the person who you think did something positive.
Don't make three replies with no intelligent content to boost your own creds.

There are those like me who post up pearls which get surrounded by puffery. I lurk around a few other sites that do not have points but it is the same. Here is the solution, there should be strong censorship of contributions. I propose Mr irrelevantcommentforpoint for the position of Chief Censor which should of course be highly paid. I suggest he should apply for government 'funding' for this important public interest initiative.

If bandwidth is that important to you and scarce where you are maybe you should log off and save it for an emergency.

I disagree with you. We are both free to disagree. If you don't like the comments, don't read them, or better yet, tell the poster what you disagree with about that post.

You click on a link to comments and the page is full of it, and every unrelated comment takes bandwidth from the person receiving.
It wastes everyone's bandwidth, not just their bandwidth. But enough of this. I'm just wasting bandwidth trying to explain.

They're free to waste as much bandwidth as they pay for, just as you're free to waste your time reading them or not
