I never said it would be easy.
You and I know that it's possible. Not now, maybe not ever. You also know that if we could somehow make the world read Rand and the majority understand it.....there goes the old imagination.

Th problem with World Peace is that tit is a really easy problem we've the technology to solve overnight. There are enough nukes in the world to adequately solve it.

I'm not saying it is a reasonable route, nor one I'd advocate, but you'd have to admit the world would be pretty peaceful afterward.

Ultimately, Peace is like Poverty. In order for them to be "solved" the only sure way is to have no more than one human.

David Drake wrote a series of SF military novels regarding a Mercenary Force named Hammer's Slammers with an arsenal of mobile sytems that DARPA could be working on today.

Interesting stuff, but a little like Popular Science to me. I used to read PopSci predictions from piles of magazines from the 60s I got as a young man (in the 80s). Most of them still haven't come true.

Some looks promising. They already have active projectiles that can steer to a target. Directed energy weapons are the next big thing, because you have a magazine filled with fuel, rather than weird shells. They left off microwaves that can make you skin feel like it is on fire, but are non-lethal. These are an excellent deterrent . Rail guns are another big research activity, but are a long way off (too much material science in the barrels).
