What's an AMA?
AMA stands for "Ask Me Anything." On the day of the AMA, we'll put up a new "AMA" post announcement. You'll then have the opportunity to ask the AMA guest questions in the form of comments on that post. Other Gulch members will vote on those questions. The most popular questions will rise to the top. The scheduled guest will then review and answer questions by responding directly to those comments.

Past AMAs
Judge Andrew Napolitano ( http://www.galtsgulchonline.com/posts... )
Atlas Shrugged Producer Harmon Kaslow ( http://www.galtsgulchonline.com/posts... )

Rand Paul will be here at around 4PM ET. The Gulch post will be up early to give everyone an opportunity to get there questions posted and to vote on the best ones.

    Dr. Paul,

Your political career has inspired me to eventually run for the House one day. Unfortunately, I am only an IT with an Associates Degree, but consider myself well educated in terms of economics, foreign policy, history and the Constitution. What advice would you have for me in regards to starting a campaign, fundraising, and gaining the support of the people against an opponent who likely has better on paper credentials and financial support such as a doctor or a lawyer?

Not sure I will be up and about that time to ask this question, "Will Rand Paul expose the Church of Climate Scientology and its sister organisation, Greenpeace, that is destroying fracking, natural gas, coal and the energy industry, and consequently, the whole of the world?"

Not sure I will be up and about that time to ask this question, "Will Rand Paul consider using TACTICAL nuclear weapons to destroy ISIS? And, if not, how will he deal with ISIS? (specifics, not words like firmly etc.)" .

I have one question: what role do principles play in the world of real politics.?

I already know the answer, but I need to hear his.

I might find it easier to see Rand Paul as a "Libertarian" if his view of religion and his attitude about abortion were not so catholic. No one is a conservative who has mysticism as his foundation.

Somehow, I just expect that Dr. Paul would be in the Gulch...

No, I meant the real Gulch (as well as ours).

I overheard in a conversation between a couple friends of mine, "Who is Rand Paul?", used in a similar context to WIJG?... and I couldn't help but smile.

I just hope in a year and change he will not only be known as Dr. Paul, but Mr. President.

Hi Jim. You'll want to hold onto that question until September 22nd as Dr Paul won't see questions submitted on this post.

    Dr. Paul
In Elan Journos book "Winning the Unwinnable
War" he points out that our nations Foreign Policy has caused us to lose far too many soldiers than necessary. Cannot this be corrected?

Why does he believe in "God" and oppose abortion? Neither of these is the mark of a true conservative much less and Objectivist.

My thought is it's easier to sell urban vs rural out-group aversion than it is to sell real issues.

When you say "societal views they have" and "these subjects" do you mean religion, general view of life, or gov't policy positions?

Maybe even more subtle than that. Identifying with a religion as a candidate, or taking up and anti-abortion, anti LGBT marriage, etc position associates with societal views they have. As we've seen even here, people have views on these subjects, that may come from a religious background, but they back into them with some flawed logic.

    Thanks, Scott!
I've got a bunch of questions of my own [some of them are duplicates to what I see here] but they all center arounda majority of the damage BO has done in and to our country have been through Executive Orders. How can a President rebuild the damage, especially without using the same means?

I wish religious voters saw that government isn't doing them any favors by getting involved with religion.

" The question is: "Is he electable, first as the R, and then against the D""
I'm pretty sure I've never voted for a Republican, but I absolutely would support Rand Paul based on what I've heard so far. I like to think most people are moderate libertarians but that hasn't been a mainstream option.

Perhaps "National Emergency" should be defined as while congress has declared war. I do agree that a war is a good example of national emergency and you need the out. The out should not be available, if like today, we are at war with no declaration of war and no defined goal of the war.
