Trump is in the enviable position that all he has to do is be reasonable to come out a really big winner.

With 10 people, no one is going to get into much detail, he needs to show he is confident and in control of himself and people will start to say, "You know maybe ..."

telling. How many NYers did he screw for his crony deals in Manhattan? Las Vegas? When he openly pushed Obamacare (or are we calling it single payer system now to distance himself from the dems which he is one). He is an outspoken protectionist. I watch what people do, less about what they say

I'm not advocating Trump as my favorite. I'd like to see Rand Paul or possible Scott Walker. Most of the others will just decide how much bigger to grow the government.

        I sure don't want Bush.

But the question was "What do you expect." He's not dumb, I expect him to build on his position.

I liked Walker until I saw his exclusive interview on Newsmax tonight. The interviewer asked " was Walker for Illegals to get citizenship? (a year ago)?" Walker said "NO I'm against citizenship" but the he said, "back then that I did say that". like a typical Politician he doesn't own anything he says.

That's a good point. Trump is very much like Ross Perot when he ran. If he doesn't get the nomination, he could easily match Perot's 12% as an independent.

It depends on when he tries to bolt and form a new party. Perot started very early in that effort and set up organizations and groups of lawyers aimed at achieving ballot status very very early. Trump has made no move to do so. If he waits till after the first group of primaries pass and then tries in say, April, it will be too late to achieve ballot status with a new party or as an Independent. He will find himself on only about 30 or so ballots after a ton of hard fought lawsuits. If it plays out like that he will fall well short of Perot. Personally I doubt that is his strategy. I think he is aiming to get the Republican nomination just as he says.

One change in three Trump makes a complete ass of himself.

Two in three that he comes out of it relatively unscathed and maintains his lead, for now at least.

I fully expect Trump to do his best at being a gentleman. He certainly will push back hard if the wrong buttons are pushed. I honestly believe that most of his support comes from those who appreciate a man willing to fight back when pushed into a corner. I await hearing the responses and positions from all on the stage but we all must remember that what is said and what positions are claimed during campaigns are for the most part just meaningless blather. I have to consider in my personal life that those who lie to me or don't do as they said they would are quickly written off.

Donald Trump simply must explain why he has changed his mind from policy positions he once held, and company he once kept and supported. But everyone can change his mind with a good-enough reason. Consider Henry Rearden.

good points. He has to provide some real policy solutions. While the media has been focused on him, the other candidates have no real airtime. As Paul put it, over the last 10 days, TRump got about 1 B in free media coverage. Now a Trump is an expert at getting attention. Let's see if he can hold onto it. I saw an old talk by Crichton at the Press Corp dinner. It was an eloquent speech basically calling all journalists to task for not giving people what they really wanted in news. One thing he mentioned was how they question the Press secretary or politicians. They always frame their questions in such a way that the politician can give a yes or no answer. The point is, most of these issues have many components to policy that must be addressed. to give a yes or no question, may simplify for the audience, but they don't end up gaining much knowledge from the question asked.

It is being predicted on Fox and other news outlets that the debate will be a bloodbath. Yes, Trump will morph into a Junkyard Dog and tear apart the rest of the Lap-dog candidates. Blood will flow!

I think Trump will be big-mouthed,and will say things that others do not dare to say--not neces-
sarily what is right, however. I do not want him as
the nominee, but would still vote for him over Clinton, Sanders, Biden, or any of the other
    Democrats running.

I prefer Scott Walker. He is not perfect--I read
yesterday or today in the paper an article about
his going for some subsidies in Wisconsin--but
we're not going to get a perfect candidate. He
seems to know better than to put his foot in his
    mouth.

One thing I am afraid of, is , if Trump
does not get the nomination, his running as an
    independent or a third-party candidate, being a
"spoiler", and getting the Democrat in.

Understanding human sensibilities, I would expect answers to legitimate questions and boulders for rocks thrown.
Can the Donald be a Presidential Person, I think he can.

I say he will do a lot of talking about how the emperor has no clothes and blow apart the tired old platitudes of the other candidates. We desperately need someone who will just tell it like it is for a change. If thats all Trump brings to the table, he has my vote.
