It's too late to get reason back into government. That horse has left the barn. We won't have Trump nor Paul for President. The system won't allow it. The media, as soon as it gets off Trumps back and stops taking his boot to their face (love what he said to Cooper, who doesn't look healthy, by the way), will go back to pouring syrup on Hillary and serving her up to the lefties. Should start back up again in the next week or two. Hilary's biggest problem is the open Socialist.
I enjoy his abrasive style. I still wonder how much of it is entertainment based vs. the 'real' Trump. But we're spending a lot of time on these 'candidates' vs the real issues of getting reason back into government and government out of running our lives.
Yes, I admit I like his outsider status. But he's really being popular for what (or who) he is AGAINST rather what he is for. That's not good for us in the end. Besides reason we need more talk about INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS and what that really means. Trump isn't giving us that either. Rand Paul is.
Hearing about what someone is against, rather than what they are for has become the norm since after Reagan.
When you don't stand FOR anything, it makes it very hard for opponents to attack you on principles. Further, attacking you for lacking principles is too much the pot calling the kettle black for even politicians to manage.
There is still more than a year until the election, plenty of time for substance. Right now, I think, Trump is setting the tone. Because of his style and the attention he's getting, they are forced to his position on issues on his terms - they are shaping their own public image. In my view many of the GOP'r who are enjoying the media hype bandwagon to criticizing are looking like the establishment mouthpieces that they truly are. For this, if no other reason, I thank Trump.
