Who needs Ayn Rand?

    How do we know they just quit. Maybe they are in an area so overridden with illegal aliens that taking a job that doesn't pay the bills is not possible and they are trying to look for a way out of a trap. Or they have been laid off repeatedly because the worked for temporary agencies and it creates added financial burden everytime they loose a job so they are holding on to hope for a full time position. Maybe their life is about to go down the tubes because of all of the lack of employment opportunities and they are simply waiting for the last shoe to drop. Maybe they don't speak spanish so there are fewer opportunities for them. Maybe they felt globalism was an enemy of their country and they could not comply with the will of the enemy, so they are trying to survive outside of the mainstream.

    Is he saying people going Galt, people going off and living their own dreams by making honest trades with willing customers, is "terrifying" and an "economic disaster"?

    I can't tell if he's being sarcastic. It sounds like he's saying in the good old days people went to an established university and spent their lives at establish companies. Now people are skipping large institutions in favor of teaching themselves and finding mentors, going out and finding needs, solving them Galt-style, and then going home and smoking some grass. It sounds perfect.

    The way I read it it was not so much a question but a statement. People that have never heard of Ayn Rand or John Galt are "going Galt" all on their own out of necessity just to feed their families.

    There is no way to know, to measure, but it is easy to suggest that these millions are indeed working, but only doing do so off the books. I mean, just to say, I have heard second-hand of former this and former that now turning to their hobby skills and doing this and that for cash.

    I think that the overall, long-term effects of "Atlas Shrugged" in particular and Ayn Rand in general are undeniable. We are actually on the event horizon of a great change.
