They called their family physician asked for help, didn’t they? If the family physician and the patient had a personal relationship and people paid cash for the privilege of a 2:00 a.m. call and possible visit; things took care of themselves. Right now we have a system where everything is paid for and everyone is anonymous. Why not, the insurance will pay for it…
Insurance to cover elective healthcare is socialistic income redistribution. The visit to the doctor should be a paid for privilege and not a right.

when I began my Air Force "career," I got to the
maintenance officer school several weeks early,
out-of-phase with the start time for the school.
they asked me to write tech manuals for firefighters
and electricians and the like. . for about 2 months.
I worked my ass off, and having done well in
English, did a great job. . freaked them out. . they
had never expected someone to do that. . they
expected me to act like I was in a parking spot,
to soak up space and do, well, not much. . like a
"feather merchant" -- the term for temp fed folks,
I guess. . well, I worked. . and doing the maint.
ofcr. job was good. . they accepted me, there. -- j
