our virtual Gulch just can't quite take care of us
like a hospital for the body -- like this one in the U.K.
is doing sooooo poorly. . what can we do to prevent
this from being our future??? -- j

So I have a question for you, what did people do before the advent of emergency rooms?

They called their family physician asked for help, didn’t they? If the family physician and the patient had a personal relationship and people paid cash for the privilege of a 2:00 a.m. call and possible visit; things took care of themselves. Right now we have a system where everything is paid for and everyone is anonymous. Why not, the insurance will pay for it…

Insurance to cover elective healthcare is socialistic income redistribution. The visit to the doctor should be a paid for privilege and not a right.

Well Said Sir!!! . we are insulating customer from
provider to the point that both are becoming callous
towards the relationship. . I Love Cash. . there are
places -- like hospitals -- where cash is not taken in
payment. . distorted markets are sick markets.

and I went back to read your self-intro when you
joined the online gulch, Mitch. . it's a great story!
when I began my Air Force "career," I got to the
maintenance officer school several weeks early,
out-of-phase with the start time for the school.
they asked me to write tech manuals for firefighters
and electricians and the like. . for about 2 months.
I worked my ass off, and having done well in
English, did a great job. . freaked them out. . they
had never expected someone to do that. . they
expected me to act like I was in a parking spot,
to soak up space and do, well, not much. . like a
"feather merchant" -- the term for temp fed folks,
I guess. . well, I worked. . and doing the maint.
ofcr. job was good. . they accepted me, there. -- j

Ironic that the person complaining is all for the socialized medicine that has destroyed their health care system. Yet complains that privatizing will ruin it.
The exact opposite of what we have, where they are ruining our private system to go to single payer.
