What amazed me is how many people really don't know about this DHS activity, or believe that it has anything to do with combatting terrorism.
Not to mention that the Supreme Court can get away with this type of neglect of the Constitution.

Excellent article. There had been some questions in here regarding the number of miles in. Think about how many major cities these exemptions affect.

As is demonstrated by this case there are times (always) that the ACLU is a "brain free zone". Anytime the 4th amendment is declared anoapplicable it removes more and more freedom from the U.s. Citizen. I can picture the reaction of tan ACLU lawyer is stopped and his possessions seized at a border crossing or anywhere else. but then it couldn't happen to a more deserving group of people. (I don't really mean that. The Bill of rights applies to all people deserving or not.)

It didn't happen to the ACLU, it happened to Americans. The ACLU was just trying to fight it.

You are correct. I misread the article. I got to blame my poor eyesight and also my animosity to the ACLU in general. I forget that they do occasionally work on the right side of the question for the American people. I owe them an apology in this case. and it is herby offered.
