The Papa Possum satire for May is up.

This month's satire takes a look at today's toxic and misandric brand of feminism.

Plenty of references within, if you'd like further elaboration, just ask.

The title is a riff on Bernard Mandeville's pamphlet "The Fable of the Bees" and its included satirical poem "The Grumbling Hive: or, Knaves Turn'd Honest"

The line about Games is an oblique reference to GamerGate

The line about "Swim left and believe!" is a not-so-oblique reference to Anita Sarkeesian's motto "Listen and believe."

The resolution is a reference to the phenomenon of males opting out of society known as The Sexodus.

And the whole analogy is based on the quote which Gloria Steinem made famous.

"The Fable of the Fish" - a new work from Papa Possum.

Enjoy, or not.

The Fable of the Fish
(The Boiling Bowl: or, Girls Gone Marxist)

Some angry creatures gathered once
with grievances in mind
on how they felt society
conspired against their kind.
We'll call them “fish” since that themselves
they once did call in claim,
although it's certain that you know
them by another name.

Inside a bowl, upon a shelf,
in a department store,
they reinforced their discontent,
and shunned outside rapport,
renounced the Strengths they could have played,
chose pessimism's pull:
“Our bowl, it is half empty! Don't
dare say it is half full!”

With anger they topped off their bowl.
Each echoed marx's name.
Not one fish thought to look toward self,
but sought something to blame.
Each clenched right fin into a fist,
and thrust it toward the air,
then swam in circles leftward...
never getting anywhere.

Across the aisle, in Games and Sports,
were bicycles displayed.
Each built for action, work, or speed;
the fuming fish surveyed
and through their fish-eye view assumed
each bike of dark ideals,
“All bikes were built for just one thing:
crush us beneath their wheels!”

The bikes were taken quite aback,
sought to this fear relieve.
But the fish rallied, fist fins high,
with “Swim left and believe!”
The fish bowl boiled over and
splashed water everywhere
and when, at last, the rage died down,
no bike was standing there.

The bikes had moved to aisle far
from undeserv'ed rage,
then lived their lives as each thought best;
the fish stayed in their cage.
So, here the story ends and if
a moral's what you wish...
then, “men need marxist feminists
like bicycles need fish.”

    Left circling fish, I'm afraid
Is a catch that's so easily made,
Though their brains are no bigger than your thumb,
After they're caught their brains become numb.
And in the balance when they are weighed,
By a reality that was never really paid.

    Love ya, Poppa P.

Triggered by this thread, I read a couple of articles on The Sexodus. Actually...I read the first half of one article and scanned the rest, looking in vain for some taint of logic or depth of thought. No luck there.

My short take on The Sexodus is that it is a bunch of loosers who hasten to blame women for their own shortcomings. The theme seems to be, "I can't get laid because women are after high quality men so it must be the woman's fault." Yeah - really?

What this boils down to is that since women are earning their own way in society, associating with a man has become an Option not a financial necessity. It is no longer required that you 'catch a husband' in order to 'earn a living on your back' in a socially condoned manner. Now, women can be picky and choose a man who pleases them instead of having to accept a second rate guy (or be a spinster or a nun as approved alternatives).

As many of you are aware, I have commented before on the strong need and advantage to male liberation in our culture. I am against the feminization of our society. But this whiny trend is pure drek. Guys: If you want to get laid...then be someone worthy of being taken to my bedchamber.

    Great one.

The thing I have a hard time understanding is how people cannot see the fist held high in the air means that they are destined to go nowhere and accomplish nothing.

Very likely all you will do is is give your power to some plotting person who is not raising the first in the air and the result may be very different than you would like.

Letting the anger subside and using logic and reason to look at the thing that's getting you mad works so much better to get a result you want.

    Thanks for sharing.

At first that poem caused me to think of the Baltimore looters.
I'll bet about everyone of them thinks it is not their fault they looted or even burned down a business with its jobs.
