Btu = British thermal unit = measure of heat, like
kilowatt-hours is a measure of electrical energy.
and the weight of the atmosphere somewhere near
you is about 1.06 tons per square foot of earth's
surface area (14.7 psi times 12 times 12) ... so
tons of air pressure is an interesting measurement. -- j

okay;;; a ton of air conditioning is 12,000 Btus per
hour, and this angle appears to be addressing that. -- j

I think it can be different amounts depending on measurement. I also saw a reference to psi. something about needing to know ton per sq ft in determining what size air conditioning system for a building.

Ah, but it's in kg2. 1 ton is about 1,200kg which would need a length of 658 meters. Still doesn't make good sense.

I'll apologize now;;; I thought that it was just a
    mis-statement. . by an O-6 full bird colonel. -- j

So I found a number for it =822984.152kg2, but no reference to what it is. I thought it might be some type of shipping wt. measurement, but it doesn't match up there either.

This is going to drive me nuts till I find out what it is.
