Wow. They don't try too hard to hide the fact that political parties need something to get people fired up about.

"The rapid acceptance of gay marriage has robbed them of the next civil rights fight." Darn it.

"The closest thing Democrats have to an organizing concern is income inequality." The author's concern, though, is any program to improve inequality will not be "quickening to the pulse". B/c this is about getting people fired up and emotional.

"climate change is an issue where the president has real unilateral authority" Those areas keep exapnding, though. Each president has more power than the previous.

"Climate change is a real and growing threat to the world's future." This fact has politicians licking their chops.

He goes on to point out that climate change brings out bizarre behavior like throwing snowballs on the floor, but Hillary has a track record of causing people to make asses of theselves.

In short, the political parties don't have organizing concerns, but they're good at finding things get people worked up about.
