This article is dangerously wrong. Whether Obama is a Muslim or Christian has nothing to do with his actions/inactions in office or his activities at present. Obama is and always has been an anti-imperialist, which he sees the US as, a beneficiary of, and a supporter of. Although it's true that many in the world see the mideast, North and Central Africa, and southwest Asia as the primary victims of previous and ongoing imperialism and Western subjugation, and the major foothold of Islam in the world at the same time, Obama's interest there isn't about Islam--it's about correcting the wrongs of his view of imperialism.

That world view fits like a glove with his priorities throughout his foreign policies and his bias towards Socialism as the answers for those populations in recovering from those alleged wrongs. That socialist bias also illustrates his domestic activities here in the US. Bush and the neo-conservatives handed him the fascist government and fascist tools to effect the changes he sought and he has taken full advantage of them.

Additionally, at this time in history, the Shiite Muslims are very comparable to the Communist Party in their supposed raison d'etre of working for the benefit of the masses and as governmental rulers that would work and stand against capitalism, individual freedom, and the evils of the West. They are, to a large extent, Obama's heroes, but not because of the religious views. He could care less about religion.

But we must remember that in framing any of his activities or policies as religiously driven completely and totally misses and disguises his true motivations and makes us look like fools.

I agree that Obama's religious bent isn't nearly as indicative of his behavior as his political bent. I would point out that Hitler used the Muslims in precisely the same way in the lead up to WW II - to persecute the Jews and foment unrest in the Middle East, with the intent to swoop in and take it all. I don't see Obama with the same military dictatorship type of bent as of yet, but he's definitely just as arrogant and narcissistic as Hitler or Stalin ever were. And that's the key. He as as little regard for the rights of people and the Constitution as Hitler and Stalin did, and that's pretty scary given that Obama is in charge of the world's largest military AND economy. In that regard, I'm almost glad that most of our manufacturing might has been sent to China.

Well, that's one way to look at it. But my point is that Obama's intent is to damage and weaken the imperialist US and support and strengthen the imperial suffering victims.

You talk about some people's goal of decreasing imperialism and introducing socialism. Is this changing the emperor from a foreign military (US) to a domestic one (socialist govt), i.e. no net benefit to the people living in the affect regions.

No I don't talk about 'some people', rather I talk about Obama. He's not intent on just decreasing imperialism--he's intent on punishing for past imperialism which he believes (wrongly) the US to have been a part of. I agree that socialism won't benefit those people, but Obama and his cronies think differently.

    Hello blarman,
Our foreign policy is a disaster. It is not a stabilizing factor. If this is the direction taken, it is clear to me that things would be better if we did nothing.
I saw the Bret Baier interview with Egypt's El-Sisi and I found El-Sisi to be credible and sincere; even hopeful.

I hope he does not disappoint. If he can build a Arab coalition with only some strategic support from us and without our direct military participation... We shall see.
    Respectfully,
    O.A.

Every policy not based on a clear doctrine and objective is going to be a disaster! When one refuses to acknowledge the situation, one can't possibly hope to develop any kind of effective strategy for action!

I, too, hope that calmer heads will prevail in the Middle East, but I know that as long as Obama is in office, this can't possibly come to pass.

The thing that really made me take notice and go, "huh?" was our potential involvement in Syria. For me that was the lightening bolt that shouted, "wake up!" It just didn't make sense, given the premises I was running on.

The down-voting seems to be going around. I wonder if sdesapio and eudamonia could put in a feature that allows one to mouse-over on the up/down arrows to see who voted each way. I don't have a problem with people disagreeing - everyone has a point of view - but I don't support personal vendettas. It shows an emotional bias that is unbecoming a rational mind.

As to the source, I look at every source for its inherent bias, but I do have to admire well-researched articles like this. I appreciate it when someone has the ammunition to back up their claims because then I have something to consider beyond rampant opinion when I evaluate the claims.
