Irksome Cox Communications Commercial
https://youtu.be/ijNAMpNTim8
This commercial, showing frequently here in Phoenix, really bugs the crap out of me. Perhaps its my own limitation but the idea that food will manifest from a printer magically disturbs me. In Shadows Live Under Seashells I presented such a device in a loose paste form delivered like water to every home and molded by machines. Cox Communications presents this tech as-if the Internet alone will provide. How? What materials will be used to manufacture these customized food novelties? Who will control the distribution of the compounds used to create? To what degree is the nutritional value of anything created for consumption regulated to ensure its health benefit? At that point, as in my book, who will determine the substance of what you eat regardless of how you make it look? Who determines the degree of your health?
JBrenner, is it just me?

I agree, its a ridiculous commercial that has no basis in reality.
Flavor. Nutrients. Minerals. Vitamins.
Sorry to be negative, but humanity hasn't done very well in this so far. We have a ways to go yet to understand the process, but eventually we will.
Menawhile grow your own and you may live to see it!
I have no doubt it coming (hell, I wrote about it to a different degree), I'm just wondering is this 3D printing is really here anywhere near the capability this commercial is presenting.
