There is still a lot to give up in the US by striking. If I lived in Venezuela it's another story! The problem here is that when we have a currency collapse it will go fast here. Wealth will disappear quickly and uncontrollably and they will outlaw most ways to individually preserve it. For older folks like me it will be a bad scene probably like New Orleans after Katrina with entitled people demanding a living from an impotent but controlling government powered by NSA surveillance. I am probably going to sell my business this year and essentially strike . I like the idea of a virtual gulch and hiding innovation sight and dealing as much as possible with like minded people to maintain a good lifestyle

There is an old saying: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. However, given the problems of cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias, it becomes all too easy to live in a dream world, the political theater.

Yes it is. A lot of people call it "fly-over country" - and, as far as I'm concerned, they can just stay in the air and KEEP flying. LOL

RINO has two meanings. The second is a Republic In Name Only. Remember it isn't a democratic process if the candidates are chosen at the top. And the ''elite'' aren't much at all if they only see our turned backs. Why? Nothing to see but assholes.

    Hi Term2:

I no longer believe in a standard political solution to these issues, for exactly the reason you just put forth. So... Revolt and revolution? Or just going Galt and going on strike? SOMETHING...

Senate File 14 was a bill put forth by the Wyoming State Legislature (the 14th bill out of the Senate, hence the name) that would have abolished the civil asset forfeiture law that's been on the books here since 1975. The state house and senate overwhelmingly approved it, 80-9, and then - when Gov. Mead shot it down with his veto, those same legislators completely wimped out on an override (which they had in the bag if they would have just stuck to their guns, but NO....)

It's a sad story... Same kinda crap as I'm sure is happening in your town/state... Gutless cowards!

Yeah, I figure I'm probably not as alone on a planet full of gored skulls as I sometimes think - and just reading what I've read here in the last hour has done much to bolster my spirits. I appreciate that more than you know...

    Hi Wiggys:

Yes, there are still a few floating around, if you look closely for them. Good thing we don't get all the government we pay for. And yes, I hold the Republicans primarily responsible, as they are the fools who should have known better.

BUT, I have no intention of giving in, any more than did Tom Paine through his "times that try men's souls." Time to stir, alright...

    Hi ObjectiveAnalyst:

YEP, it's all his fault, so hold HIM responsible when I screw up. <just teasing>

He's a great guy who has successfully dragged me the rest of the way out of hiding. So, time to start really spewing!

    Thanks!

    Hi Puzzlelady:

Flattery will get you everywhere. <big smile>

I've thought about the collection of columns into a book, and then maybe expanding some of them the way Vin Suprynowicz did with "Send in the Waco Killers" and "The Ballad of Carl Drega," but I guess I haven't been willing to consider myself as being in that league as of yet.

But, if I keep listening to you, I'll be there before midnight. LOL

    Thanks Again! And stay tuned...
