There is a practical solution to harvest solar power. I wrote about it in my book Shadows Live Under Seashells. I'm not sure why everyone avoids what is possible for what is probable. I'm not suggesting anyone stop looking for new ways to produce energy but sheesh what I proposed, based on several existing technologies, is here and ready to go, it just needs money and leadership to do it.
