The New Religion

from the article:
Certainly, that is the tactic of choice at the prestigious, exclusive Hayground School in Bridgehampton, where an astonishing one-third of typically secular, sophisticated, ultra-liberal parents have, it seems, a “genuine” religious objection to vaccination of their children.

To parents who send their kids to local public schools that doesn’t cut it. A long-established local pediatrician, Gail Schonfeld, now refuses to accept patients the children of parents who won’t permit immunization. She believes in vaccines—in fact, considers them just plain good medical practice—and says if “parents don’t trust me with this, we won’t have a good working relationship.”

And I acknowledge that. Yet it is irrational from a species perspective. That is a conflict that you must deal with.

And yet, I'm likely to be censured for expressing the same, even though I deleted such. Ce la vie.

false choice. ethics by extreme situations. You do not define Ethics by the blue moon extremes instead of what happens everyday. start with that and work the other way. Ethics is a code for living not making decisions based on extreme situations.

No need to apologize. I know what you were trying to do. I've had many run ins with the misinformed (not referring to you) and it's become a hot button issue with me.
My son manages it well and is the poster child (adult now) for health. His profession is in physical fitness. :)

Here...have a tissue. I thought the rule was to comment when you down vote...what happened to that rule.. you're breaking your own rule Robbie. That seems a bit underhanded, and not very Christian like.

But your kids might have inherited your flawed genetic make up... the entire human species is hinged on your procreating propagation! Don't you know that??
Things can develop after the age of 21, ya know. And since you knew you came from faulty stock maybe you shouldn't have gone and made babies.

Lets Shrug, please understand I was only trying to make a point about what Robbie said. I'm so sorry I stumbled on to what you are having to deal with. I am sure no one knows what caused your child's problem. There are only theories out there. My hope is that your child does well.

Why do I need to express exasperation? Cuz you exasperate me. Why DO you take my exhaustion as a personal affront? Get over yourself. If you want to take that as a poke in the eye then go right ahead...it's still a free country (well, not really, but....) Jesus Macaroni already!
