I don't get the logic or lack of it. They left the Muslim country they are from because they have it so screwed up they can't stand living there. They get here and immediately want to start screwing up our country with their barbarian laws and ways of life.

I truly don't think they come because they can't stand where they live, I think they come here to do exactly what they are doing; bring their laws with them so we will abandon ours.

Some leave to escape the brutality. (Read Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali). They don't see the link between their ideology and the brutality that always follows.... their religion is FULL of force. They have NO desire to assimilate to their new surroundings, it's against their entire belief system to do so...UNLESS you're trying to deceive others. It's a vicious circle that will never ever square with reality and logical thinking...or freedom. I highly recommend reading Infidel.

The better question to ask is, "Why did they leave?"
.... and don't accept the first, easy, simplistic, wrong answer you get. Dig deeper, and I'm betting the "spread the word and gather power" concept is one of the most accurate 'root cause' answers.

I think that I'm well informed enough so that I do not need a recap on the evils of Sharia. However, I imagine that there are plenty of low information people out there who could use a good lesson in this, the filthiest of rules of governance.

GaryL, they didn't come here to build a better life. They came here to conquer America.

That surely could be a big part but they also climbed out of a complete rat hole in the desert and now want to change our ways to their failed ancient Sharia garbage. Best of luck on the conquering part. Lets get that party started while I am still here.

well, I think that's been part of teh problem. Lots of Americans are ignorant of what's going on. Mainstream media ignores court cases in cities where judges are sympathetic to their laws. and we've seen it become really out of control in European countries. all that brainwashing against hate speech, etc means truth is not outing.

Why leftists do not object to Islam, I don't know. I speak here of the majority of leftists. The exceptions--Bob Beckel at Fox, Bill Maher at HBO--highlight the wild, insane, and irrational illogic of the position their fellow leftists have taken.

They march in step to the political correctness as dictated by their pseudo leaders. Because they are:
      oh so good,
      And oh, so fine,
      And oh, so healthy,
In their body and their mind.
      Well respected wannabes about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively??? Conservatively?? NO liberally.

Each religion has its own tenets, from Catholic to Jewish (old and new) to Mormon to all the Christian sects to Muslim and Buddhism. Religious freedom as assured by the Constitution will not let Sharia become "the law of the land" in America. Never. Nohow. Adherents of each religion can follow their particular commandments but not impose them on others. End of story.

Where collision happens is if Sharia as practised by its devotees requires actions that are illegal, such as stoning or human sacrifices. There the line is drawn at how far that freedom can go. Criminal acts, however rooted in some religious tradition, cannot be condoned and must be prosecuted like any other crime on U.S. soil.

As for why people leave their native Muslim countries, have you heard of the wars going on there? Around a million have become refugees to get away from guns and drones. Those with some education and money and knowledge of European languages flee to Europe or America. Just one more chapter in mankind's population movements and migrations to foreign lands for a better future.

It's hypocritical of us to worry that immigrants will seek to impose their traditions on us when we are "over there" trying to change their ways to ours, with force and devastation. We would do better with good example, diplomacy and trade. Letting their young study in American schools and experience America's freedoms first-hand would accomplish what no amount of bombs and wars of aggression can do--win their hearts and minds.

This is a very complex matter, not to be dismissed offhandedly with black-or-white soundbites steeped in glaring prejudice.

    What a bunch of crap.

It's all just propaganda. Christians have become such whiny pieces of crap. If someone tries to impose Sharia Law in violation of the Constitution you shoot them - it's so simple.

I'm Christian. I'm not a whiny piece of crap. Oddly enough, despite your broad brush, I agree with you about putting an end to the entertainment of any degree of islamic law in this country - even if that means by force on US streets (which will likely be necessary one day).

Understood. But "broad brush" extends to thinking all Muslims want to impose Sharia Law - which is the latest Faux News tactic.

I'm sure not all...but those sheep do lay down when the wolves come. Look at Afghanistan, Iraq, or anyplace ISIS is taking hold of. To say that muslims want sharia in the US is true (just not very accurate), I've heard it myself from several on more than few occasions, and the rest will fall in line at the first example of the consequences of disobedience (beating, beheading, children stolen) as they do everywhere else in the world.
Personally I'll take my news from Fox and temper it with my reason as opposed to sifting through the outright left pandering bullshit on every other news channel.
