Any and all "gun laws" are both morally wrong and unconstitutional. Matters not what level of GOVERNment does makes such "laws" or what they might say, they are infringements upon our very Right to Life.

always remember it is not the legislators that make the laws we have to worry about but those who chose to implement them no matter how stupid they maybe.
I do not believe I will ever drive in the state of Maryland again. if out that way I would drive around the state 500 miles out of the way.

No surprise. This is one of the problems I had with getting a permit. Someone has the list and at some point it will be used against those on it. All for a basic natural right of protecting one's life & property. One of the reasons the founders created the 2nd amendment.

That's why I was extremely frustrated when oklahoma enacted an "open carry law".. If you go and take a class and get a permit it is "legal" for you to "open carry" a gun in a holster. The IDIOT conservatives in our legislatures thought this was a good thing. I can't understand why we needed a law 'permitting' us to do something that was our legal / constitutional right anyway. Now if I want to carry a gun legally, I have to get on some kind of list that can then be used by whatever group is in charge..

Sorry to say, that law is BS. Personally I don't want to open carry but that is a choice. I never want anyone to know when I carry. Wisconsin did the same thing with concealed carry. Took me a year after the law was passed to actually get a permit because I didn't want my name on a list. Finally paid my tax and got it.

          edweaver -

But I gather that you do think that you got a concealed carry permit but did not get your name on a list? I would suggest that your name is indeed on a list of some sort. Could you discuss a bit more about why and how you believe you succeeded?

I would imagine that what happened recently in France has made people more eager to keep a handgun with them both at work and at home. One wonders what the best way is to go about this.

No, I know my name is on the list now. That was my hesitation in getting the permit. I finally decided it was better to be on the list than to be caught carrying without the permit not that I ever did that.

Another good reason to live in Texas where guns are not registered, You need an instruction class to conceal and carry, but nothing to own a gun or carry it in your car. Obama wants to know where they are and who the guns are owned by so he can confiscate them leaving the public at the mercy of arrogant law makers. Fast and furious was just one of his illegal attempts to get our guns. A total violation of our second rights which he could care less about, along with any other constitutional rights we have (had). He's a criminal, lying despot and our congress is more interested in their power and perks than they are in standing with the oath they all took. Obama is the worse case, but we no longer have a country of, by and for the people. I pray that when they come for our guns there are enough people that will stand up against them and our military will refuse to enforce an illegal order as they are charged with and should. Their oath is to the constitution not some traitor in the oval office elected by a bunch of tree huggers, illegal aliens, racial blacks and Socialists

Yes, we loved TX when we lived there. Lots of things that I think are right about how that state is run. Definitely agree about the fed(s) wanting to know and control gun ownership. I've wondered the same thing about the military. If they are told to take citizens into custody would they? Especially if they appear to be ordinary citizens who are not a "threat" to the nation. Unfortunately I think our military is being brainwashed against anyone that the powers that be call a terrorist, whether that is a "militia member", right wing conservative, christian fundamentalist, etc...

Come on back. The water's fine.

Obama is purging the military of several high ranking officers. I wonder why. There's no way that he can tell if they are doing a good job or not as he never had any contact with the military except to hate them. Remember Mr. Brilliant when he referred to the Marine Corps and the Marine Corpse? That sure proves his enormous I Q. I sometimes find myself believing that he is nothing more than an ignorant stooge puppet dancing while someone else is pulling the strings.

In four states -- Alaska, Arizona, Vermont, Wyoming -- and outside city limits in Idaho and Montana, the law states if you’re legally able to own a firearm, you’re legally able to carry it concealed or open for self-defense.

    First of many.

Wonder if the background check to establish the pull-over is withing Miranda Rights? Just pull police records for the officers computer searches, and shut the whole thing down.

From my understanding, much of Maryland police, including highway patrol, have license plate scanners that automatically do a search on the registration of that plate. That must be programmed to check for weapons registrations/permits. If it hits, then the cops find some excuse to pull the vehicle over. Not sure that any of that violates Miranda, as that only applies once one is arrested, and that hasn't occurred at that point, merely a stop. The cause for the stop can be just about anything, from actual physical reason (like a light out) or made up reasons like driving too fast, too slow, weaving, anything. At that point, it's your word against the cop.

The fundamental issue is that this is being promulgated from the top down. And it needs to be stopped at the top (this should be one of the first actions by Hogan).

Prima facie, if they are looking for excuses to pull people over, that's wrong. It's targeting and blatantly ignoring innocent until proven guilty. And if they are doing it based on gun registration - a legal phenomenon - that's extra wrong because you are deliberately attempting to turn law-abiding citizens into criminals.
