This guy probably has one of the most objective stances on religion in the world, and this is what he has to say about yesterday. I try to be tolerant of many things. As a Catholic I am very familiar with the history of my church and many other sects of Christianity and other religions, but for a religion thats been around for almost as long as Christianity to STILL be so violent, it doesn't add up when people try to say that this is a religion of peace.

Unless they have a religious leader now who calls for respecting others' rights and who people listen to, this is useless. I don't see how this helps us get people to respect one another's rights.

A fair observation. However, they've had religious leaders in the past, and their message has been pretty consistent.

The trouble is in the question. Unless a religion has a pope-like leader, questions about the religion's position on violence ask us to wrongly put people in groups at the expense of the individual.
