Survey says, 87% feel optimistic for 2015. Who thinks this is accurate & why?

I heard this on CBS this morning and have to say I am shocked at the number. Anyone else>

    That is a good question. It was such a short segment I can't say for sure but my take was that it about the economy for 2015. I tried Google searching CBS and could not find it. I did however come across this post in the Google search which also surprised me. It was only about 6 down from the top too. The gulch must fair well in Google's search engine.

    +1 The fact that the falling energy prices haven't done more to uplift the economy as a whole is indicative of how bad things really are. No matter what the loons in DC say.

    Well, I am cautiously pessimistic. Business results seem to be improving, but is that merely because the Fed keeps printing money (no comments on the fact that the Fed doesn't itself print the money - they are responsible for the increases in the money supply)? The businesses that I interact with are not planning on any increases in '15, in fact many are looking at decreases or at best maintaining things as they were this year, which wasn't much better than the past several years. I think things could go south fast if there is a trigger. Lower oil/gas prices have helped to remove the sting of the economy, but the underlying trend seems to be negative. If gas prices returned quickly to just the same levels they were early last year, that could cause the house of cards to collapse.

    I would not last 10 minutes in that environment. I would need to tell the entire story and we know they don't like that. :)

    Ya, they did not do into any of those details. It was a simple comment that lasted all of maybe 5 seconds. Could be how they asked the question. That is what got me to post the question here. Thought I would see if we could get an unofficial sampling of the gulch members. :)

    I didn't see it (did anybody?), and would need to know more about the context of the question and who was in the sample that responded.
    That said, I think that generally people feel optimistic about the future during the holidays (yes, there are those who get really depressed, but are they the ones answering surveys? I think not).

    Well it was CBS and I think they support fuzzy math in Common Core.
