I would think, considering the conditions in N. Korea, that an Internet blackout would impact no more than a few thousand people, those in the party connected to the military and government.

I don’t know how it happened, but I know if some had their way around here, it would have never had been possible. Didn’t we have a conversation in the Gulch over the summer about whether or not the US should relinquish control of the internet?
This is a good example of why we should keep control of what we created.
    Play nice or log off.

I would guess that 97% of North Koreans don't have computers and couldn't care less. When you go hungry, the first thing on your mind is not the Internet. However, It did most likely piss off the elites, which is a good thing.

I am so distraught that N Korea could have internet problems. So distraught !! The bastards deserve it, and it might be that the chinese did it on their own to send a message to N Korea not to embarrass it. China is too big and has too much at stake to play stupid games with Sony pictures. N Korea thought they had nothing to lose, but perhaps they should rethink that. Obama should SHUT up, however, and take whatever action he wants quietly.

. What if the geeks actually united? Would our government be forced to come to North Koreas defense? After all President Obama erroneously blamed amateur anti-Islam film for deadly attack on an American consulate in Libya on September 11, 2012. Then imprisoned the guy and ordered Youtube to take it down, Then they forced Ambassador Susan Rice to blame the video that at that point had very minimal views. So all this leads me to wonder if Obama really did have any evidence that North Korea did the Sony hacking. He might have been baited into accusing them.

oh! . if the geeks united, they could bring this world
to its knees in hours. . we have our eggs in one
basket, the web, and they could render us all to the
world of "want to work offline?" in a relative heartbeat. -- j
