Well, more than that. A review which just repeats history, especially since this story is not a widly known historical drama, does a disservice to those who will learn from the review. There are surprises and events in the movie which should not be revealed in a review through a repeat of history. A SPOILER ALERT is anything that tends to wreck the ENTERTAINMENT value of a film. I try hard to stay away from those give-a-ways so those who put up the cash have a chance to be surprised and entertained by those making the film, not those writing about it. Psycho was a movie about Norman Bates, a killer who thought he was his mother part time. The story was from a novel by Lawrence Bloch. If I read the novel which was part of history it would have been a mistake in a review to reveal the big SURPRISE Little surprises and revelations in a film are fun. Do not give them away to an audience who has not yet seen them to show off your knowledge of the historical part of the story. Um, yes I do mean history. Exactly.

Tiny bits of foreshadowing, less than most other reviews which talk of historical inaccuracies and less than the trailer or the ImDB blurb, way less than the Wikipedia plot. There are no spoilers which say this happens, or that happens, in this review.

SCREEN ADAPTATIONS, from a novel are easier, but from a real-life story? The screenwriter walks a tight rope act between the needs of historical accuracy and the responsibility to romanticize the story.

An excellent case in point is the wonderful film, "The Imitation Game."

Yes. When great historical changes were made in Inglorious Bastards it negated 99% of the film. It was still good on some levels but one of the best known facts of the 20th century was the way Hitler met his end.
