When his policies resulted in food shortages, the Venezuelan people became uneasy, and Chávez feared assassination.

Chávez justified his rule by claiming that he was the intellectual heir of Simón Bolívar.
Chávez was absolutely obsessed with Bolívar.
To the point that when he feared assassination, Chávez claimed that that is how he would probably die, because Bolívar, he also claimed, was also assassinated.

Bolívar, however died of tuberculosis.
When this was pointed out to Chávez, he decided to prove his assassination conspiracy theory by exhuming Bolívar's body and having it autopsied.

Think about that a moment.

So, in the myth Chávez needs for his post-mortem prestige, he, like Bolívar, was assassinated.

It's late and my comprehension is clouded by exhaustion. But, seems we've now been accused by the new head thug Mr Maduro, of poisoning his predecessor Mr Chavez with the dreaded cancer cells, when it seemed to many of us that the Administration was sinisterly killing him all along with kindness!
