For you college-bound or currently in the middle of college: unless it's a Bachelor of Science in something highly technical, ask your college this: What's the point of going in debt to get a degree just to grab a job as a waitress or bartender? This article should frighten you.

Well, y'all can bitch about the loss of manufacturing 'well-paid jobs' or you can look into the reasons WHY they've disappeared (and no, offshoring and outsourcing are NOT the root causes, despite popular consensus and beliefs).

Look at the kinds of jobs that so many complain aren't being done WELL today, and where we need and want MORE honest, well-trained workers... and you'll be listing electricians, plumbers, welders and a variety of construction jobs.

And enrolment in law degree courses is actually dropping now... maybe there's a supply glut or diminishing demand or something showing up?

    Go figure.

Oh I can explain why: it is planned that way and has been for decades. Gary Allen explains it all in his 1976 book, "The Rockefeller File".

UCS... well, at least they own up to being Conspiracy Theorists right up-front.

A wonderfully unbiased, unslanted treatise... at least until the words appeared on my screen.

        :)

If anything Mr. Allen said wasn't true, you know as well as I do that the Rockefellers would have sued him into poverty. They never did. It's no conspiracy 'theory' when its proven to be true. We need more people like Mr. Allen more than ever before.

... or not. lots of similar lawsuits are never filed because the backlash or publicity is considered less desirable than 'winning the trial.'

And the language in the article is certainly not unbiased or non-emotion-provoking, too, imnsho.

Human jobs doing manufacturing are on their way to disappearing altogether. One one hand the change is frightening but OTOH it's been a human dream to have machines do all the work.

exactly, automation pretty much always results in lower prices as well.. Which is why a waiter can afford to have a television, microwave and drive to work while their ipod is streaming music. Where I work we are using puppet to make data center infrastructure fully automated. While one might think that would reduce the numbers of the operational staff.. Its not, but now they have time and energy to attack much bigger problems.. Automation frees people to do more interesting things.. Granted, that does not mean easier things..
