From Goldberg article: "Vote first, ask questions later" is not a mantra of good citizenship. It's a marketing strategy designed to reward politicians for voters' ignorance

Here is an idea for "recalibration."
I think that the number of those who are eligible to vote but do not vote should be compiled. If there are more who refuse to vote than the number who voted for the winning candidate then the office should be vacant until an election is held with a winner that represents more than half of the people who are legally eligible to vote.(This may include those who are not registered to vote but are elgible.) In the interim, the government will hold referenda on repeal of existing laws on the books in reverse chronological order. Any law not getting 2/3 of the vote of all eligible voters will be repealed immediately. The first referendum must be held withing 30 days of the original election day and must include the 500 most recent laws affecting the region over which the vacated office has authority. Every 90 days another repeal referendum must be held.
