Comrade citizens, this story reminds me that what the current state of the economy needs is yet, yet, yet another trillion dollar shovel-ready job stimulus. Don't worry that Obama later laughed about jobs not being so shovel ready. A billion dollars alone can buy tons of shovels.

I wonder why she is not going to jail if she failed to set up the $60k trust.

She says it's b/c she's concerned about paying for her living expenses, but she would have had to do that even if she hadn't be accused of a crime. The money was suppose to help her through the criminal legal troubles, not pay for general living expenses.

Despite her mismanaging it, I admire the spirit of the donors. It sounds like the money's being squandered but no more so than if they sent it to the federal gov't to fund programs for the needy. With some improvement, variations on crowd-funding could do a lot of good without the waste and coerciveness of gov't.
