Since the release of “Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt?”, many of you have asked “what’s happening with Galt’s Gulch? Is Galt’s Gulch going away?”

With over 18,000 registered members, Galt’s Gulch Online is now the world’s largest and most active online Objectivist community. And, we're not going anywhere.

We are however going to be undergoing some renovations here in the Gulch and we want your feedback.

1.) What do you like most about Galt’s Gulch?
2.) What do you like least about Galt’s Gulch?
3.) What new features would you like to see?

It's not the end... it's the beginning.

XP firefox. The link normally goes to a temporarily highlighted post, but not always. It might be failing in cases of long threads with continued pages or maybe branches of subtrees that are linked to prevent them from becoming too narrow.

There are currently "The Gulch: Bugs" and "The Gulch: Feature Requests" categories. Maybe we need a generic "feedback" link somewhere.

I'd like any feature that makes it easier for us to create a real gulch.
What talents and resources do we gulchers have ?
What are we gulchers willing to do to have a real gulch?
What functions do we need in this e-gulch to help us create the r-gulch without invading the privacy of others?
Example, is there a survey/poll function in the e-gulch ?

The question is "now that the movie is out" how do we keep "producers" coming back and supporting the project? Because while I believe spread the knowledge, isn't the basic principle of Objectiveism a trade of fair value? Meaning I give my fair value for equal, So how do we create the inner sanctum?

I would add elements of the ARI online institute. I started to study some of the topics and is it easy? No but I begin to understand more each bite at the apple.
I would include practical ways to roll philosophy into practice high lighing stories and good examples.
Before we go there is this a religion in my view? No, do I believe in God a supreme being? Yes, do I respect those who don't agree? Yes. So life is good. I am here to learn and grow.

There are many possibilities, but one focusing on volunteerism would have been nice. I know way too many people who are Atlases within their churches that are getting burdened by it so much that they are switching churches, including my aunt and uncle just last night. A side comment about bringing Ebola to America via a Christian medical ministry would have been a fitting punctuation mark. No good deed goes unpunished.

If Ayn had added one more chapter to Atlas Shrugged, what would it have looked like? Perhaps sponsor a contest in conjunction with her rights holder for the best chapter. First prize a $5 gold piece.

    Oh, yeah. They are.
I do not see the point of wasting each other's time.
    Respectfully yours, a fellow Gulcher.

I would hate to have all of us here be degraded to nothing more than a list of cult followers. At the same time, I've read reviews here and elsewhere that would have been better stated had the authors actually seen ASIII:Who is John Galt, or ANY of the films.

If I were sitting on the board of "decision makers" or were an Executive Producer, my vote would be to start another project. There are other Ayn Rand works, The Fountainhead, We the Living, Anthem.

    1. I appreciate the opportunity for78 1`6tintelligent discussions with others who have read Rand and watched her on video.
    2. Pettiness
    3. Focus less on who gets what points, too high school, and more on organized sharing of thoughts, whether we all agree or not. Sometimes having a dissenter makes us think and dig deeper into our Objectivism. Otherwise, I thing the design and philosophy of the website is first rates.

have a great sleep, get some rest, and I'll play in that sandbox any time you're up for it. And I'll have no expectations of changing your mind, beliefs or positions. I hope your expectations will be similar. :)

I'm quite tired and about to go to bed right now. Afraid I did not provide the complete context. That atheist I lashed back out at had, at the time, just referred to Bible writers as (as best as my memory can transcribe) as some sort of subhuman scum who lived in mid-eastern desert dung heaps.
I'll be happy to engage this further with you when a bit more lucid tomorrow, I'll be sleeping late. I'm retired.
Have a nice night. Be warned not to shake me from my beliefs. Jesus is the door to salvation that's open to everyone. Do you still care for us to dance? One-two-cha-cha-cha!
Tell me how something can come from nothing. Without telling me that's how that mystery made many mythologies begin?
    I am dino!
    Hear me ROAR!

Need feedback form or procedure to get such info back to the web designers and controllers?

Add a feature to the new topics page that designates topics not yet seen by the current login.

Normal people expect the purpose of the forum to be honored and not polluted with drive-by trolling. Leftist and religious dogma can be found elsewhere.

There is 'part time' trolling by some who on some topics repeatedly violate the intent of the forum with repetitious proselytizing for anti-Ayn Rand dogma rather than asking serious questions or discussing the topics seriously.

    It doesn't always work.

Scott, first, THANK YOU MUCH for this wonderful,
collegial, endearing and challenging opportunity to
befriend people of like mind ....... it is a unique value
to us who love life and rationality and Rand!!!!!!!

Yes, facilitation of a way to connect with others
here would be good, yet we can do that by way of
    the private messages.

my Rand library has grown mightily because of the
knowledge of people here. this is an advantage,
and a central listing of Rand-specific works might
    help.

and we need a better way to say Thanks to those
who enable this site, the movies, well, You Guys
and Gals -- how? maybe pre-paid cards to the
local 5-star eatery where you live? we Really DO
    appreciate you!!! -- john

repost that comment as a new thread, Al... but since you mentioned it, what the HELL do you think you might accomplish by saying that to an ATHEIST? ... change their view? come over to 'your side'? I'm a 'devout atheist' and your comment might provoke 'fightin' words kinds of a discussion with me, which might be entertaining for some, but unless you can specify <ironic font> or something like that, some clarification of your actual intent might be appropriate.

I haven't been kicked off many/any blog sites for my views, but I've proactively quit several where real conversation became impossible because of dogmatic, un-listening other commenters.

Other than that, I LOVE real discussions on politics, religion, rights, economics and such! :)

ok, I can support that, but like the op-ed pieces in our local paper, the CV of the person commenting... oh, ok, it would plug in to my prejudices anyway, right? And I can always glance down the printed page before reading...
    :)

Well thank you Gary. Too bad that others that have differing viewpoints see things differently.
