I was watching some ads for the Wounded Warrior Project, and got to thinking how sad it is this charity exists.

It’s appalling these and other charities like this even exist.
VETERAN TICKETS FOUNDATION
Soldiers' Angels
Wounded Warrior Project
OPERATION TROOP APPRECIATION
Veterans Airlift Command

Not because of the outstanding work they do, the honor they give to the Veterans, the help and assistance they give to the Soldiers and families that sacrifice so much, but the mere fact that they are needed in the first place.

That fact that these charities exist is a true testament to the absolute ignorance of our government and the leadership within the government. The thought that our Veterans do not get the RIGHT and PROPER support after giving so much, literally life and limb. The Government that is supposed to take care of Veteran’s and their families squanders our tax dollars on things they have no business spending on.

I am personally embarrassed that our tax dollars go to things like free birth control, abortion, Corporate Welfare, Lifetime benefits and salaries for the lame politicians for serving only one term.

It disgusts me that we fund pornography for things the liberals call “Art”, the Government funds NPR, and PBS, sends billions in foreign aid to support dictators and yet the Veterans that do the heavy lifting to keep us safe to live our lives and enjoy the freedoms we have left even need these charities just to survive because of the outright corruption and ignorant management of Government Bureaucrats that do not even have a clue, nor the accountability as we in the private sector do.

I wonder how well our Government would function if our Military just went on strike for better conditions, hell, just the support they were promised when they VOLUNTARILY signed up.

Our military personnel though have way too much honor and dignity to do that, but if they did, I would certainly understand, and I would blame only one group. Washington Politicians, starting with the person who is supposed to be our Commander in Chief. In this case today he is our Golfer in Chief.

It is always important to look at use of proceeds and efficiency from ANY foundation.
In looking at WWF filings you find 11 people with compensation above $150,000.
They are sitting on investments of $136 million at fiscal year end 2013. (An increase of $66 million over the prior year.)
It might be questioned if that money could be better put to help our Veterans instead of being in investments?
A lot of their money is given to other 501(c)3 charities who do the actual work. It might be more efficient to cut out the middle man?
All information an be found in their Federal Tax filing : http://990s.foundationcenter.org/990_pdf...

Also, they are not, ironically, supporters of second ammenment rights. I learned of this after telling my husband about some WWP merchandise I had purchased. He knows, as he's in the firearms industry, and a donation was refused, from his company, because of that. (So was a substantial donation to the Susan G Komen foundation. So, apparently women who arm themselves don't get breast cancer...).

number6- Only after following your link do I find that the WWF you refer to is the Wounded Warrior Foundation - I am much relieved. !

woodlema's point is still valid tho' when you consider what governments would have to pay if there were courts with juries setting damages for injuries.

Thank you for pointing out even within the charities that do good work there is a lot of waste.

I still retain my point that these charities should not even be needed. If our Government did what it was supposed to, Veteran's would never need any private charity to pick up the slack.
