It is my understanding that the Colonial (rebel) government of the State (Colony) of NY offered land grants to some who served or signed up to serve in the Continental Army instead of cash it didn't have. Usually this wasn't very good land located mostly in "the wilderness" and had to be cleared before settling on it. This particular land is near where Elmira is today. The indigenous people fought on the side of the British and were defeated and, like the Tories, didn't fare well after the war was over. [Side note, some of these same tribes fought on the side of the French during the French and Indian War and that didn't work out well for them, either.]

Shooting from the hip here, recall most land in pre revolution days was held by the royal government (king) and parceling it out was by kings agents by various means. After the war the kings lands fell into the stewardship (ownership) of the colonies (states), who then parceled it out as we see today. Whether or not these governments had some "right" to grant such land may be argued until the cows come home, but the whole thing is moot because history has given us what we have.

How did the government get the right to "grant" land to anyone? Wasn't it supposed to be that the person who aspired to it walked around a certain amount of it in a day, or cultivated it, or fenced it in---or something?

During my 21 years (1982-2003) as a state corrections officer at an Alabama maximum security prison, inmates were never treated like that.
If we had, inmates can sue and we would have wound up in a federal court downtown Birmingham.
County and city jails? Apples. oranges and bananas.

Jackson selected for the Twenty was an intentional slap in his deceased face. Trump has many photos with Jackson’s portrait in the background. The central bank is the enemy.

The Obama 3rd term (Biden) is just a push toward the end of whatever instruction manual the Deep State is following.

After 35 years of pondering I'm still tring to figure this stuff out...

When the deep state murdered Kennedy and installed the fat puppet from Texas, the 'united states' became the separate and unequal squiggly lines on a map.

Why does learning that just now fails to surprise me in the least?
Me dino would not even be surprised if "IN GOD WE TRUST" on a one dollar bill is soon replaced by "MEN CAN GET PREGNANT."
Naw, on second thought, it would more likely be "ALWAYS TRUST INCLUSION AND EQUITY."
Heck, I could keep this up all day if I wanted to. Only I don't.

Ouch! I've actually herded ducks out of the road near where I live, but never had problems with vehicles. Most folks just smile and wave.

Whoa! Didn't notice that. Usually when a link comes up in the Gulch I trust it is reasonably recent. I have heard about poor conditions meted out to J6 protesters in the DC jail from other places between then and now. I still am not sure if any J6 people ended up in Gitmo.

I am surprized it was covered at all. I can not find whether this has happened yet, but I suspect not.

Thank you, Sextant. Wow, hard to believe NBC would publish this. J6 prisoners ASKING to be transferred to Gitmo because conditions there are better than the Washington jail. After reading about some of the conditions these people have had to suffer could make a person throw up - not to mention get angry! Obviously a Soviet gulag right in DC.

And by "democracy" THEY mean that they count the votes, with the authority to jail anyone who questions their totals - so looters stay in power forever. No exaggeration.

Locking people up like that -not the kind of thing a free country should do. Try or release them-don't behave like Castro!

Remember when the Reds were Communists, with the red being for the blood to be shed in establishing the Dictatorship of the Proletariat?

Who gave the Republicans the color red anyway? I certainly didn't.
