The short answer: YES
Remember our shields are 25/30% weaker now and Satellites get hit first and are the most vulnerable.

While solar flares can affect communication systems, it is highly unlikely that these two X-flares contributed to today's widely reported cell phone outages. The flares, while intense, did not cause a solar radiation storm. Moreover, the shortwave radio blackouts they did cause were too brief and too low in frequency to interfere with most cell phone communications. Other explanations are more likely. https://spaceweather.com/archive.php?...

Ben goes through it thoroughly, seems there was reporting of some short term Satellite problems among many internet services in the (M9Cfk... link) Last link in the list.

Good thing there was no CME component.

Aha! I wondered why my telephone went crazy. A very good friend knocked on my door and wildly informed me of the outage which I already knew was going on. nb
