Will the states ever have courage enough for nullification of some federal laws? Juries have traditional rights to do so, though threatened by judges about doing that. A jury has more power than a government.

He needs to do more than that. He needs to secure the border and anyone NOT here legally needs to be tossed out - no exceptions. Send them back and make them apply properly. And shut off these ridiculous asylum claims of which 99/100 are abused.

IMHO, our immigration system should be the following:
1) Those wishing to emigrate to the United States must fill out a profile in person at either a US Embassy or border crossing station.
2) Current US Citizens who have been US Citizens for at least two years may choose to sponsor a potential emigrant. Sponsorship entails the following:
A) A Citizen may sponsor only ONE emigrant at any given time.
B) The citizen must provide a $10,000 US bond which must be paid up front to the Customs Agency. This bond may be used to pay for fees, testing, etc. associated with the Emigration process.
C) The citizen must personally arrange for housing and employment for the prospective Emigrant. The employer or direct supervisor must sign an affidavit attesting to the good character and solid work performance of the prospective emigrant during that time. While the emigrant may be employed by multiple employers, each must sign an affidavit. These affidavits go in the prospective emigrant's file. The prospective emigrant must pay taxes as if he/she were a citizen but may not apply for unemployment benefits or tax refunds/rebates.
D) The citizen assumes legal liability for the actions of the prospective emigrant, including any misdemeanors and felonies committed by the emigrant. The citizen also assumes responsibility for any legal fees associated with representing the prospective emigrant either before the emigration panel or in a court of law.
E) The citizen assumes medical liability for the prospective emigrant. Prospective emigrants are not eligible to participate in any government-funded healthcare programs.
F) After two years, the emigrant may apply for full citizenship. They must demonstrate that they have been gainfully employed for at least eighteen of the twenty-four month period by providing both pay stubs and employer affidavits to that effect. They must not have been convicted of more than three misdemeanor charges in that 24 months. A felony conviction is an automatic disqualification and immediate expulsion from the country.
G) Any prospective emigrant who is denied citizenship after completing their two years must wait an additional five years before applying again.

I have mixed thoughts on whether or not China would "save" the USA after a disastrous economic collapse. Like all socialist/communist nations, China needs the loot of others to survive. China's current power is based on looting the West and the USA in particular. I would expect a more likely scenario is China would vulture-like pick at the bones of what's left of America rather than breathe new life into it. IMHO, if the American people can't solve their own corruption and leftward slide then worldly civilization will be doomed for centuries to come.

the usa might have a wild card with the nuclear weapons we have that might discourage an attacker from doing an actual invasion. If I were china, I would decimate the USA with EMP attacks and cyber attacks, and then wait for the money to collapse here and the power of the usa to just diminish. When that happens, the usa would NOT be able to stop china/russia from taking over the world. Eventually the people of the usa might even invite in china because of the desperate conditions that had resulted from the leftist policies here.

a friend had perfectly good blue X insurance that became unavailable, and replacement insurance doubled doubled with obamacare and had major increases in copays and deductibles. A lot of people I know wound up with medicaid (free) that gave better care (including drug costs) for no cost. IF you can find someplace that takes medicaid. (Forget places like Mayo Clinic)

Well, term2 and rainman0720, I wish I could give more than +1. Obamacare destroyed a lot and I blame my father in law's early death on its passage. The health care insurance premiums for me and my wife virtually instantaneously bumped up over $3000 per year thanks to that debacle, too!

On another subject, I think that AI will make the media and politicians into very formidable and dangerous propaganda artists. We need a consumer AI system to tell us if what we are reading or watching was indeed created by AI.

I had about a 30 minute chat session with that open AI chat bot. OMG. I could have been listening to or watching any of the media outlets. Until we are told that AI has written the articles, I will treat media infomation as pure propaganda I think. Maybe its I who has the tinfoil hat....

I firmly believe it had one--and only one--purpose, and that was to destroy the current system of health insurance in this country and force everyone into a single payer system, with the assholes in Washington being that single payer.

I am not sure that Obamacare actually helped anyone in the end. I know that people who had health insurance before Obamacare just pay more for less, and everyone really has larger copays than they had earlier and worse care. And half the people in the USA still think government control is a good thing. Its just NOT.
