If Twitter Crumbles, Will We Go Back to Talking in Real Life?

I'm just wishing...that people would return to taking face to face, instead of tweeting face to screen.

What if his Starlink satellite is the back bone to a competitive cell phone service and he has been developing a new smart phone?
He has 155 million shares worth $29 billion and options to buy another hundred million at much cheaper than it’s priced. Do you think he cares about the car company?

So maybe he doesn't care about his car company or maybe even twitter but his main focus is on his rockets.

His engineers were looking for them and where they came from. Re Musk, what kind of question is that. I would just observe what he is doing and add it to what he says. After awhile you should be able to formulate an opinion. From my observations he is quite an enigma , but he is the largest defense contractor with Space force . Trump created Space Force , he would have done his due diligence on Musk imo.

How does a bot trap work?
Why did Musk want to freak out his car customers?

A bot trap, sounds reasonable. To examine those accounts who said No, to narrow down the field and help to isolate the bots.

Twitter will see a surge in real actual users.
Musk is genius. His recent poll on Trump being reinstated …..was a bot trap. Brilliant.
There is a reason all the Tesla car customers freaked out with his Twitter takeover. They lost their mouth piece. Enjoy the show!

I have never posted on twitter. Don't even go there.
I dropped out/avoided facehook early on. I never understood why somebody would post a picture of their "yummy" meal. I don't give a crap. Seems like they think it makes them special or something. And then there were those that seemed to think their political views made them special or something. uuuuuugggggghhhh!

I still don’t own a cell phone and never have . I just don’t want people to be able to call me when ever they want. I have 2 land lines with voice mail and I always return messages when I get them.

I was one of the last to be assimilated by the Borg. I refused to have a cell phone. Then I was the last to convert to a smartphone. Now I am a mindless part of the collective wishing for the good old days of fighting with my Brother with sticks and garbage can lids playing gladiator.

I still think back fondly to the 70s and 80s. No computers, no smart phones. It was wonderful! Life was simple, and people talked to each other. When the nurse on 5 South called me about a patient on my new fancy state of the art digital beeper, I would pull off the road and call her from a phone booth!

Very close to the same for me. My family puts stuff up on FB from time to time, but I mostly find other social media annoying and can take it only in small doses.

Edit add: wmiranda and gharkness here have the right attitude. Use it if you want, if you don't...

Twitter ain't going away. Most Twitter users do no tweet to actual real life friends and neither do I. If you want to talk face to face with your "friends" just do it . No need to bitch about people that tweet to the masses on twitter.

I am a weirdo, this is my only source of social media and I'm okay with it.

Heinlein hit it on the head with his Foundation series, starting with The Caves of Steel. We are turning into the planet Aurora.

Exactly. This great tech that supposedly brings us closer together has really just pushed us farther apart. Turning a social life into a video game.

Requires work, and dealing with people's responses directly, not through an asynchronous digital shield.

Therefore it will not happen. People want video games, not life.

Ugh. Kathy Griffin. Instead of just blocking her account when she was reinstated, I made the mistake of telling her exactly what I thought of her and where I wish she was. OOPS. Now I'm "permanently suspended" unless my appeal works.

So, it's okay for her to show a mock severed head in all its gory and in all it's meaning, but "rot in hell" is more than they can stand from me.

BTW, wmiranda, I absolutely do agree with you of the value of Twitter. There are a few people whose ONLY connection I have is through Twitter. No need to go into details....that's the facts.

Why is it that people want Twitter/FB/IG, you name it to go away, when ALL they have to do is NOT USE IT? All of those things are a lot like a gun. Nothing happens unless the USER does something with it.

I think Twitter is a useful means of communication. It's all in how it's used. You have to be selective in what your read and put down. But some of the political lunatics that put down their every senseless thought need to be bypassed by the reader. I see some names and don't even bother. "Has been" like Dan Rather and Kathy Griffin, just crave trying to stay relevant through Twitter. Then there are "the nobody" that research independently and put out information with better quality than the so called journalist.

    There ya go!
Only reason me dino got a smartphone is because it could be rigged to amplify the sound of a phone call into my hearing aids sort of like radio receivers.
