We obviously need to get accurate figures on the sexual assault in colleges, and the article should have given an example of the same-job-same-senority comparison between women and men in a couple of jobs (tech and non-tech) to give us data to come to our own conclusions. In general, though, I agree with it. Intelligent 30 year old women with technical aptitudes have actually been urgently guided into high-tech tracks, with a lot of benefits in front of them if they accepted such positions.

There are cases where sexual pressure is being put on women: Last year the anthropology world was stunned by a denouement of sexual harassment of female interns in the field by senior male supervisors. Happily the anthropology world reacted with a big STOP IT and SORRY and HERE IS SOMETHING FOR YOU...and promptly chose an all-female team for the most exciting dig in the last century.

While we still have a ways to go, it is mostly cleaning out the corners in the 1st world. We need to take the 'get over it' step.

Excellent article. Bullshit statistics are used all the time, all over the place, and do nothing but detract from intelligent, productive discourse.
