    My favorite Spock quote:

"Even in this far-flung galaxy 2+2=4."

    Fascinating, Spock.
But the era of CD"s has passed.
Now we're in the era of EF's.

Classic Trek. Too bad it was cancelled after three seasons.

I liked Star Trek because it allowed the writers to go after taboo subjects with a certain amount of freedom. It was on Star Trek that TV had its first interracial kiss (Ohura & Kirk), among other things. Though Trek was hardly the first to envision time travel, the way they handled it was pretty intriguing and set the stage for the future (pun intended). They explored additional content in the animated series which followed on when they stopped the live productions.

I guess one thing that always rubbed me wrong about Star Trek was two things: the Federation itself and the Prime Directive. I'm sorry, but there's no way the human race is going to come to a utopian state on its own planet let alone advance peace throughout the galaxy. If anything, I think the notion of the Ferengi or the Romulans is more accurate. But it was interesting to create entire races and cultures on one specific extreme aspect of human culture (logic = Vulcans, intrigue = Romulans, martial prowess = Klingons, money = Ferengi, etc.) and then pit the adaptable and flexible humans against them. Made for some interesting speculation, especially when matched up (much later) against probably one of the best-known alien adversaries: the Borg. Say what you wish about the Dominion or any others, the Borg still top my list as the ultimate baddies in the Star Trek universe.

The Klingon, Venus Fly Trap Mary Jane is a double. The original line was, “You haven’t really experienced Shakespeare until you’ve heard it in the original Klingon!”

If you want to slow your life down, listen to “Don’t Bogart that Joint” by Fraternity of Man. The original song was from about 1968?
