What amendments would you offer to the constitution – convention of states.

If we are successful at calling a constitutional convention of states and you were selected to represent your state, what would you recommend for amendments?

Abolish all the amendments except for the Bill of Rights.

Then a law that puts the complete identity of any prospective politician on full world-wide public view. If you're going to be a politician, you have zero privacy. No financial privacy. No opportunity to steal. Every penny you touch can be seen by everyone. Your private bank account is not private, it's on the internet for all to watch for the person's Entire life.

And, producing crap, planned obsolescence, throwing it in the garbage, will be redefined as Recycling! It's good for the planet!

Agree 100%! The guarantee of future crap goods and services is being inculcated into our society starting with the dumbing down in the education system.

"They" don't really have a need to design or manufacture things that break in a year because "they" will be devoid of the necessary work ethic and skill to design and make things that last longer. Crap won't be deliberate, it will be automatic. Quality will have been educated out of them. A most recent example is the scrapping of the valedictorian awards in Colorado - excellence will no longer be rewarded. However, I'm sure there will still be free stuff for sloth.

I agree completely. Unfortunately, our all knowing 'leaders' see a sales (consumption) tax as (a) too much freedom for the serfs, and (b) a drag on big corporations sales.
It would interfere with the shopping addiction; why do you suppose sales taxes aren't included in prices in stores or online?
The world economy is all about selling more crap that you should throw away in 6 months when the 'new' crap is available.

Apple has taken this utter rip-off practice to new heights with the iphone. Constantly reminding people to get the new OS so all their apps will be broken and they'll be forced to spend $1,300 on another piece of crap.
Not to sound biased, MSFT is just as bad.
Virtually everything (manufactured in Asia or Mexico) on the market today is crap that is designed to work a year and then break, with repair as expensive as buying a new piece of crap.
Pride in a job well done was laid-off (with people who knew how) by big corporations starting in about 1990 just as displayed in the movie Wall Street.

Yes, a national sales tax and getting rid of all the other unconstitutional crap forced upon the people would open up funding for defense. There was no income tax for the Rev War, Barbary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish American War and numerous skirmishes. [Side note: Lincoln tried to enact an income tax during the Civil War, but it was ruled unconstitutional and stopped.] Arguably, the greatest economic boom in world history took place in America post Civil War showing what a free people without burdensome government can really do.

How would we fund national defense? Would we impose a nation sales tax and only tax consumption?

I would agree but how do we legislate that, we already have these laws, and they are not followed. Removing the opportunity for corruption would slow down the ability for the corrupt to overtake our government once again. I guess I’m saying that we need to clean house somehow before these would be useful.

And to be honest, it would scare the living daylights out of me to allow these folks to open the hood of our constitution. The convention of states should only be called once these ass hats are purged.

Be careful what you wish for. Five Presidents could answer that question. Except Ronald Reagon #5 didn't die. The other 4 did. They all wanted to do away with the Federal Reserve...even JFK.

Eliminate any possibility of any level of government imposing tax or fees or liens of any kind on any form of income for both businesses and individuals. Government at all levels would be forbidden to deduct or collect any wealth from any income stream.

The fundamental problem isn't that we need new amendments (though some could help), but that the current Constitution and amendments are being systematically ignored:

    Asset forfeiture
    Control of education
    Control of healthcare
Control of commerce, beyond cases where the two parties are in different states.
Welfare state (taking from one on order to give to another)
... and so on, and so on, and so on ...

i do not believe anything that we could offer would really matter, exception term limits and maybe all laws apply to EVERYONE equally
    the IGNORE the Constitution now

they ignore it on the 2nd Amendment
they fund welfare, medicare, a whole host of unconstitutional things designed to buy votes

I think Mark Levin's book "The Liberty Amendments" plus the amendment that Judge Narragansett proposed - "Congress shall make no law restricting the freedom of production and trade." would do nicely.

Gold standard – We need to tie the dollar back to gold and dissolve the Federal Reserve.

Political favors - We need a constitutional amendment to remove the ability for congressman to pass laws that gives one group a monetary or business benefit over another. All laws must treat all citizens that same, regardless. Not sure how this would be presented without causing unattended consequences.

Balanced budget – There should be a constitutional requirement that any bill signed into law also be required to be fully funded.

Lifetime term limits - We need to be rid of the career pollutions. I say three offices held for two teams each and your done for life. This would allow someone to move up while limiting how long they can serve.
