Congressional Deals

Has anyone here ever thought about the magnitude of the deals struck in Congress, and the basis of these deals?

FFA's post regarding mandatory mortgage insurance got me thinking. What was the basis of this rule? Who has stock in an insurance company or a subsidiary interest?

What do people think about recording and making available to the public ALL communications between congresspeople, and potentially other executives/judiciaries?

Most of this stuff is available - if you have the time and money to pursue a FOIA request...
Unless of course the conversation happens at your private residence in Delaware...

Agreed. Sunlight is the best disinfectant. And boy, howdy, could we use it!

    For minor offences, I presume.
iirc, shaven heads were a partial punishment for women who favored Nazis in WW2 France. Today, that might be a reward for the young nose-ring gang.
    Fashion rationale evades my understanding.

Now you are talking! I'd be satisfied with forehead and cheek swastika tattoos, and a month in a the stocks, moving from state to state.

Title insurance is not to protect payments. It is to protect ambiguous title holder. Then the even the mortgage company might get screwed.

I like that. Really would love to see the behavior of the semi-wealthy, "spend other people's money" people when they can't get food.

I'm having a big argument with locals regarding deer hunting on Nextdoor. These idiots can't see the hypocrisy in eating a steak while admonishing a hunter. Ridiculous. Bunch of 9 year old girls wanting to hug Bambi. Idiots.

No one will be screwing with me family/house, and I'll get food, no problem.

Protect mortgage companies? Where's the risk, if the payments aren't made they foreclose on the property. Mortgage insurance isn't even necessary.

Now, now, Thor. How do expect congressional level career public servants to become millionaires with mansions by hampering them an "all communications" rule?
But wait, save for rarely voting them out of office, We The People have as much chance of making career politicians impose upon themselves an all communications rule as we do with term limits.
Or why ignore mail that says (between the lines), "Hey, sucker, fatten my wallet so we at Scam, Inc., can finally impose term limits."

Along with the transparency needed for "the military industrial complex" and intelligentsia. And hanging does not inflict enough pain, lol.

That phrase is one of the very few worth remembering that I heard from a leftist public high school history teacher.

Tomato, tom-A-toe. We need to get the legislation passed, so we have to start as if there are only a few bad guys... ;)

its called grifting, not deals. They are all crooks lining their pockets and selling out the nation and its people. They should be held accountable.

Ha! Imponderables no doubt. The key question is "what Constitutional Right protects information in office. I think "None at all!"

LOL, Thor, I think you're touching on one of the imponderables of universe mysteries. That is, how is it that so many congress critters can enter office "middle class" or less and then, poof-Just-Like-That, become filthy rich elites.

I think FFA has something in the statement, "Yes, record and make public all their dirty laundry, and HANG THE B@$t@rd$ For TREASON."

And there you go. The question is: “Who and how did it benefit a congressperson to vote for it.” This doesn’t really help consumers. Telling consumers they MUSY have it, takes away all incentives for sellers to provide service.

Oh wait… this is just like health insurance…

I always thought mortgage insurance was to protect the banks, not the people, even though the people cough up the loot to cover it.
