I spend a good bit of time without electronics but only one time in my life had I experience no light pollution. I drove through the Utah desert at night while coming home from Calif.
I can remember, at a stop to stretch at the road side that I was at ease with no sound and nothing but the stars for light...it really didn't feel dark...

Fascinating. I miss my BFF, We frequently spent time at the ranch which was so far from the city lights we could see millions of stars at night as we sat on the balcony. We were so awed we didn't even talk! the ranch was 4800 acres in the south of Texas. I miss that solitude.

Nice article. Thanks for posting it.

As I read it, it occurred to me the great irony is if I wasn't sitting in front of my computer, connected to the Internet, and logged into the Gulch I likely never would have read it.

Totally agree with the article. We all need to put down our electronics and take time to reflect.

Had to laugh at “... Perhaps we should start treating modern electronics with at least the sort of respect we have for sharp objects”, as I immediately thought of ‘... don’t run with scissors...”
