Bank of England : Digital "Currency" Could Be Programmed To Only Be Spent On "Essentials"

Excerpt:
"The Bank of England has called on ministers to decide whether a central bank digital currency should be “programmable”, ultimately giving the issuer control over how it is spent by the recipient.

Tom Mutton, a director at the Bank of England, said during a conference on Monday that programming could become a key feature of any future central bank digital currency, in which the money would be programmed to be released only when something happened. “There could be some socially beneficial outcomes from that, preventing activity which is seen to be socially harmful in some way…”"

This is what the US fedgov is planning for its serfs.

The FED Reserve is not the Govt. The Govt is the FEDS slave.

On Monday, the long-anticipated (by gold bulls) banking rules implemented under a sweeping international accord known as Basel III came into effect (for European banks) and - as discussed previously both here and elsewhere - mark a major change for European banks and their dealings with gold, "potentially altering the landscape for precious metal demand and prices".

In a nutshell, Basel III elevates allocated gold, in tangible form, to be classified as a zero-risk asset under the new rules, but unallocated - or the hated by gold purists - “paper” gold, which banks typically deal with the most often, won’t — meaning banks holding paper gold must also hold extra reserves against it. The new liquidity requirements aim to “prevent dealers and banks from simply saying they have the gold, or having more than one owner for the gold they have” on the balance sheet.

Note: Gold was not higher on the news. Would the banking cartel actually regulate something that is against their own interests? Not likely.

Just starting to get into the Gold/Silver game although I've had some in collectables.

PS...ever notice those little gold flakes in Miracle Grow plant soil?...going to be checking it out to see if it's real gold...wouldn't that be a hoot if there was some value to those little flakes after all!

I suspect those little flakes are probably mica or some other mineral.

I thought so too but I have an ounce of real gold flakes and they look the same...just have to find what to put on them to see if it's real gold...wasn't it ammonia/vinegar or something?

Not sure what a chemical test would be, gold is conductive and mica is not. If you can find a big enough flake stick an ohmmeter on it. 0 (or close to it) = gold, big or infinite is mica. Of course fools gold might conduct as well. Somehow I suspect if the Miracle Grow folks were digging up gold flakes, you and I wouldn't be seeing them in the dirt they sell us.

Oh it's there in all it's glory...managed to pan some out of a pan of water...they are tiny flakes but it could be fools gold. I have a piece I found it at a quarry in Roxburry Ct during a geological field trip in college...It's Big enough to test...I think the copper content is too high if I remember correctly.

It is safe to say that if you can see it, it is either high grade gold ore or something else. And in general, if you're not sure if it is gold or not, it is something else.

In the geo business (my business) if it is truly "vg" (visible gold) it's time to get excited.
