Marxism hits a roadblock when there is a healthy middle class. As there was in most Western Countries in the beginning of the 20th Century. So it wasn’t spreading as fast as the powers that shouldn’t be wanted. So instead of the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat, THEY relabeled them the Oppressors and the Oppressed. Bingo! Now financial status has nothing to do with being an Oppressor or Oppressed. It’s all about traits. The “Race” part of it just plays better to the target audience.
TL:DR- We used to call it stereotyping.
It’s the ideological equivalent of a bumper sticker that says, “ I’m OK. You Suck!”
