In the first movie, why did they leave out the railway works standing as sentinels at every mile post?

    Yes, it was VERY moving to envision them standing there. And the train was very "moving" too. haha

    Yes, I agree with you about the engineers -- the message they were sending to the labor orginization was powerfull. I remember the first time I read about the sentinels, it seemed as though I were there seeing the flash by!

    I wondered that too. A very important symbol missing. Also, the part about how the railroad engineers ALL requesting to be the driver for the first run on the Rearden tracks/bridge, after the union guy threatened Dagny that none of them would drive it because it wasn't "safe". Probably filming time constraints will be the answer this.
