    Stupid law, but true.

Obama being elected is a critical milestone, demonstrating the majority of the US population are not prejudiced...at least enough not to vote for a black (ok, half black) holder for the highest office.

So we can withdraw some of the reverse discrimination laws ...

Remember Chris Matthews? Tingles? (He said on air that he got tingles running down his leg whenever he heard BO speak). He thought America could feel proud of herself again if we elected a black president. As if America had something to be ashamed of!!!

Ummmm Folks, the law doesn't mandate anything except that such be CONSIDERED. It ain't a done deal.

For those who didn't actually read it:
"to consider including, and recommending for adoption by the state board, instruction on the election of President Barack Obama and the significance of the United States electing its first African American President, as appropriate."

I saw that, but it doesn't make much difference to me. It's asking some board to consider mandating it. It's a step toward something absurd. You can't have gov't using its power to promote people currently in office.

Really? It's not as if Obama is running again. That ship has sailed. He's done.

Right, but elected politicians asking a gov't board to look into promoting a current or even recent politician looks political. It looks like they're using their position to promote politicians. President Obama cannot run again, but he may endorse candidates. It's just way too soon.

I would find it pointless for them to weigh in on a politician 100 years ago, but it looks very bad when they do it for a sitting politician. Let historians decide the historical significance of political figures.
