This is none of the Federal Government's business, and the action on the part of our Dear Leader's Attorney General, Eric Holder, demonstrates the blatant racism that this administration has injected at any and every turn possible.

Imagine their shock when the person they autopsy doesn't look like the young kid's picture the media keeps showing as the perp. When you see the video from the incident, it doesn't paint the 'poor abused innocent youth" picture quite as well...

Used to be... a criminal did something stupid and they showed pictures, it was of the criminal at the time he was committing the crime, not his endearing childhood photos.

Since both the state autopsy and the private autopsy conducted for the family have shown no shots in the back (so much for running away), and no shots to the underside of the arms (so much for the hands raised claim), it will be interesting to see if the DOJ autopsy magically invents a new result. No mention of any toxicology results (did they run a test?).

This young man was 6'4" and almost 300 lbs, and demonstrated his will to use that muscle to intimidate a much smaller man in the convenience store. I have no doubt he tried to show off to his friend by attempting to overpower the cop, and an independent witness (who should be under police protection) stated that he started to walk away, then turned and charged the officer.

Giving up six inches and a hundred pounds difference against a thug who's already attempted to grab his gun, I don't think the officer had many choices.

This is a way for the Obama/Holder justice department to communicate with the low information voter the concept "there is no matter too local for the federal government to ignore." This is a Ferguson Missouri matter, until they invite the county, state etc. As I read the Constitution I see no clause that covers local felony or misdemeanor crimes. Consequently all things not named to the Federal Government are left to the separate states, or to the people.

This is a difficult concept for our President. His resume states that he was a Constitutional Scholar and professor. This means he spent his academic carrier searching for the many ways he could circumnavigate the separation of powers. Phone, pen, and unwarranted opinions are all tools of his trade.

Worse than ridiculous. The family arranged for a private autopsy, by a very good forensic pathologist. Surely that ought to tell all anyone needs to know.

But I've known for some time: the DoJ is playing a dangerous game of provokatsiya.

This is to give Holder a reason to stir up the racial pot. He's no better than Jackson or Sharpton. Actually he is worse because ha has more power than either of them. I keep feeling as if I have somehow slipped into an alternate universe where good is bad and bad is worse.

"Meanwhile Lerner...", precisely. This is what this administration does. First they change the subject and get involved in any new conflict to take the attention away from the ones they want to go away. And, their racism investigations only go in the conventional direction, remember the two black thugs in front of the voting place? No investigation needed there. What happened in Benghazi? Where was Obama and where was Hillary? Who is responsible for letting those people fend for themselves and die? If no one gave an order to stand down, who is responsible for not giving an order to stand up? Are we satisfied with, what's the name of that allowing guns to go over the border thing? You know what I mean? How much more of this are we going to swallow?

FBI-CSIA's will call a spade a spade, they don't play Politics. They are the ones that started the Fast and Furious Investigation when they investigated the Killing of that BP Officer in Arizona three years back.

I certainly hope you're right. Don't trust the DOJ to be impartial nor follow the Constitution or the rule of law. Especially not when it involves a black man and a white man. Holder has shown, as in the New Black Panther voter intimidation case, he is incapable of being impartial in those incidents. Who does the FBI answer to? I think it is the DOJ and the prez. I'm glad you have faith in them, I don't. Maybe it's just me.

Unfortunately, in this mess, both sides have an initial point. When one compares the percentages of the ethnicity populations of the city of Fergusson and its governance [i.e. the police, the government and the failing school system] there is such marked disparity as to invite trouble.

Percentages be damned. If one is interested in justice and whether the law was followed, or the law was broken, then only the facts of the case should be considered—not anyone's race. You would think that anyone complaining about racism would not be interested in fueling it into the future with divisive speech...a point those doing so, would do well to heed.

If there is corruption in the local legal system, then it should be investigated and dealt with harshly. On the other hand, who stands to gain from the HYPE surrounding this incident? ...reasonable people, of all races, that want to see the fair application of the law?

You know, in one of Larry Elder's books, something about victimhood, he published a letter from a man who ended a commentary on OJ Simpson with these words: It's not about black and white, it's about wrong and right!

Differential Percentages are the whole cause of this mess, Fergusson is like a pre-Civil War plantation in that matter. When that atmosphere is mixed with high unemployment and poverty you have explosive content, and fiery tensions rise. Much of the instigation is of outside origin, of seventy-four arrests only four were residents of the town.

Bull. I lived in St. Louis for many years. I ran a fabric store in adjacent Hazelwood. I traveled to Ferguson often to a sister store. Blue collar working class neighborhood. I will agree there are a bunch of loitering, out of work 20 somethings without a plan or clue. There are plenty of jobs available...if they were hungry. They're not hungry, the govt feeds them and educates them and pays for their emergencies. They are surly because they are lost. I looked up jobs on Craigslist for the area. PLENTY. Are they willing to work night shifts? No? not hungry. just angry and to feed a false pride they blame anyone and everyone for their lost boy life. Where are their dads? Now they are the absent dads. btw, I see no color here. My statements are for all of that generation who choose to not gain knowledge in virtuous areas or involve themselves in virtuous production. Plantation?! Oh brother!

I agree in large part with you, kh. Our "American genes" are more productive, than others around the world. If people, white or other-than-white are provided with food, shelter, healthcare, etc. they are likely to just sit there, and eat, and screw, and toke, and snort, and gangbang. I say, stop giving them things--they are entitled to a productive life!

Khalling, I think that sfdi is one of "those" who have stereotypical but incorrect views of the south (I grew up there). Now living in Portland OR, I still experience that same anti-Southern bias with my liberal I-know-better-than-you friends.

"Differential Percentages are the whole cause of this mess...."

Really? I thought it had to do with individuals taking actions based on decisions they may, or may not have given much thought. Your comment implies a mixed 'package' of 'social' causes which define individuality out of men.

Yes, that is politically true, any governance should be roughly equivalent to the populace governed.
In Fergusson, I suspect that Gov. Nixon chose politics over common sense and allowed the imbalance to remain unfettered.
When you look at that school board, with a High School graduation rate of less than 49 percent and the majority of the businesses are owned by non-residents . . . well???

St. Louis has a long history of productive residents fleeing neighborhoods because of thug and looter mentality. St. Louis is your perfect storm of horrible socialist policy, cramming individuals into poorly built projects in areas where the jobs aren't and paying them to live at just barely above subsistence levels. Some figure out how to break out of it. It starts by finishing school. Why aren't they finishing school? because they can be a gangsta and be somebody. where are their dads? who is raising them? Ever seen Pinocchio?

If it's racism to say that a criminal was black, why isn't it racism to say that a victim was? (Or, for that matter that the 'criminal' was white?)

Agreed, this is none of the federal government's business. If the city cops are behaving questionably, then the county and State can deal with it.

I guess that is one way to look at it, YNGH. Another way to look at it is the police department has such a low credibility rating with the community, the DoJ almost has to look as if they are in charge of the evidence, in case the officer was justified. You don’t want the police department saying they didn’t find any wrong-doing.
Where’s at least is the toxicology report?

The other way to look at it is that:

      - If there is any question over the credibility of the investigation, the State should step in and deal with it, which they have done.

      - Our Dear Leader and his so-called Justice Department has been anything but color-blind and has fomented racial problems.
      * Remember our Dear Leader's comment about "the Police acted stupidly" without knowing the facts, and was later shown to be ignorant on the entire matter?
      * Remember Eric Holder's non-treatment of the issue of voter intimidation by the new black panthers?
      * Etc.

      - The Justice Department is bending over backward to appease the black community in this situation without any regard to the facts of the case.

I can certainly be accused of having a "bear trap" mindset on this one, but I've seen enough of this thuggery in the current administration to get a sense of how they operate, and this is just more of the same.

The state officials and representatives are all about to lose their jobs this fall because of Obamacare. They probably ask the DoJ to take charge to keep their noses clean. I haven’t heard Senator Claire McCaskill's name mentioned once in recent years, whereas before she had been a major fundraiser for the president and enjoyed the notoriety and other perks that came from being on the ‘right-side’ of this administration.

ETA: I think his friend’s description of what happened is not even possible. How did Wilson grab this thick-necked kid buy the neck by reaching through a window of a car? Does that even make sense?

I agree it makes no sense. Someone close to the family of the officer involved in the shooting indicated that the "gentle giant" was pushing the squad car door closed on the officer, and simultaneously going for the officer's gun. The gun apparently discharged during this struggle, but I didn't hear that anyone was struck.
