Principles or Pragmatism? The New Wuhan Order

In today’s 21st century America, the Crisis is the Wuhan Virus, and the Leviathan is our political, media, and education institutions.

However, it’s different this time. Pretend for a second that you’ve never heard that before. During the previous one hundred years, the Leviathan created economic crisis and prescribed economic solutions rooted in the Keynesian myth of aggregate demand, supported by its nonexistent multiplier effect.

Today however, the solution for the epidemic includes castration of supply-side of economic activity. You know, the side that prevents poverty, despair, and death. This stark reality is deeper than a health crisis solved by urgent “flattening the curve” public policy, social distancing, and hygiene. It is the suspension of Constitutional rights and human life-sustaining purpose.

What’s disturbing is the willingness of so many people to accept the repeal of their personal liberties based on projections using unreliable data sets.

Yes, changing allegiances like this is like Wesley Mouch changing allegiances based on the whims of public opinion. Atlas Shrugged, Part II, Chapter 5. Their wallets are empty.

I expect dozens of other biased rags to quote this article out of context to only criticize the Trump administration with the blessing and encouragement of the New Yellow Times.
The countries who are most likely to have used power against the people are conspicuously missing, e.g., N Korea, China.
How many of the ones mentioned are also friendly to the Trump administration?
The Trump administration was castigated by the New Yellow Times for not doing enough to combat the COVID19 virus.
Trump's attempts to avoid statist measures was criticized. Now they criticize the administration for doing what the NYT and others demanded.
The war for the minds of voters has no limits. Use any brush to paint the ones who oppose statist measures as statists.

Hmmmmm. Odd editorial from a publication that has advocated statist control over... well, everything... for some time now.

Well, mowing your lawn is protected, but not with a gasoline powered mower. And forget about the electric one. Gotta push mower I can borrow?

    Good article.

"But critics say some governments are using the public health crisis as cover to seize new powers that have little to do with the outbreak" --- I know this sounds like a real "first-world problem" but my only escape has been going to our private golf course. They kept it open, and the few county courses open. But, there's talk of closing them. But, such a move is not founded on any facts or reason. It would only be a "stay in your home" decree in my eyes. So, I started thinking...WHAT NEXT! So, I'd like if you all played along with me and chime in with what else will be banned. I'll start:

    Mowing your lawn.

    ...your turn.

Good question about the NYT editorial. But hell, I'll take it. Another huge achievement of Trump's?

"What’s disturbing is the willingness of so many people"
Disturbing, yes. Surprising, no. Sheep are sheep. Wolves are wolves.

Would the NYT have included criticism of the US fedgov if Obama, Clinton, or Bush had been in power instead of Trump? No. Not a snowball's chance in Hell.
