People that tried to make socialism work, after a few years gained wisdom that would have fit well in Atlas Shrugged, well before it was even written.
“All cooperative schemes which provide equal remuneration to the skilled and industrious and the ignorant and idle, must work their own downfall, for by this unjust plan of remuneration they must of necessity eliminate the valuable members –who find their services reaped by the indigent – and retain only the improvident, unskilled and vicious members.” - Robert Dale Owen
A good article with brilliant quotes. It would be easy to mention many and to say of each how right it is. There is one that struck me as valid, I hope I am wrong- “The truth is that men are tired of liberty.” Benito Mussolini
The evidence is:
Climate - The climate strikers, the 16yo ranting ignoramus calling for listening to "The Science". A religion, it may not have gods but it has the worst aspects of faith combined with fake altruism, that of saving the planet, even if human life must drop in amenity as well as numbers. Not the same as but a good fit with socialism.
Venezuela- a predictable calamity.
Gender studies and choice- ranting overcomes reason, fallacy beats fact.
These and others are reminders of Freud's Thanatos - the death wish. Perhaps it comes down to altruism, it is easy to imagine life being better, harder to say exactly how, harder still to specify what to do to get that improvement, so the mushy thinking herd sacrifice themselves (and others) by giving power to those who claim to know, but the noisy never know.
