In German a young girl is neuter, a pencil is masculine, and a window is feminine. Just learn nouns with their articles. It is harder to learn Russian and Latin where there are six cases for how a noun is used in a sentence.
Best to just learn a language and use it as it is used at that time. The object, even with English, is to be understood and not wish that it were otherwise.

When I saw this crap moving into schools, I had our daughter first read ":Anthem" in grade 5. They were pulling the "there is no I in team" crap. How will that be treated? The Germans are one of those embracing the insanity. I have not heard what they suggest their grammar will have to be amended? The adjective must match the noun it pertains to and you conjugate both, which makes German a heck of a difficult language to learn. Same goes for the French.
