This study is a perfect example of the lengths liberal acedemia will go to create a measure that "proves" their success. It is their arrogance that they can control all variables that drives them. Success to them is creating a statistic not a result. They assume a high NEAP score equals student understanding and ability to apply skills. They also assume a need to discover any correlations. They refuse to see that by leaving it up to parents and local communities that the problems are taken care of before they become big problems, and they are not needed.....Maybe that's why they go to such absurd lengths to create a meaningless stat. Ya think!

The Standard of Education ought to be whether or not the student has learned to think for himself. To accomplish this the schools have to teach Reason and Logic.

All this proves is that kids are getting better at taking standardized tests. I'm about to take the GMAT and my study book honestly says "Getting a good score or a bad score has nothing to do with your knowledge, ability to think critically, or how intelligent you are, a good score simply indicates that you are good at taking the GMAT." These are multiple choice questions, randomly generated by a computer, that can be answered, not by actual thinking but by some process of elimination combined with luck. Eliminating two answers and then taking a 50/50 shot can get you a pretty damned good score. That is what our education system has been reduced to.
