I noticed this little statement: "But by this time, plaintiffs had decided the legal expenses were unbearable. End of challenge." As of late, there seems to be an awful lot of people getting screwed out of their rights, liberty, or property due to legal fees just plain crushing them. IMHO, the convoluted legal system is out of control and so are the lawyers that created it and feed off it. The Founding Fathers attempted to lay the corner stone of a justice system, but we ended up with a legal system and the two are not necessarily the same. This article surely describes a legal system run amok, but it looks like justice can prevail from time to time - as long as you can afford the right lawyers.

For a little humor I submit the lawyer joke of the day:

Two bills addressing the same issue are brought up before the legislature. Which one passes? Answer: The one that generates the most revenue for lawyers.

Excellent comments, adding to the story, for sure. There were several other good reports on this, of course, including by Heritage. The Pacific Legal Foundation put out its own release, I believe.
