Article blames it on dumping in the oceans. I don't disagree that it is an issue. But weren't there 2 massive Tsunami's (Indonesia and Japan) that swept a huge amount of material out to sea? How much of that debris is still in the ocean and has sunk to the ocean floor?

Guess where else trash was found? My floor. What do you do when you see trash on the floor? You pick it up and put in the dumpster. I blame the strict laws on incineration.

Trash has been collectiong on the ocear bottom for 1000's of years. every since man took to the seas. Imagine what the bottom of the Mediterranean would look like if we could see through the bottom silt.
Think of what the sea off of Jutland must look like.
Should be do a better job of keeping the seas trah free --YES, can we --Yes. Will We -most likely not.
The awful trith is most people just don't care. Look at the road sides here in the good ol' US of A. Trash covered in most states. There aare laws but little if qny enforcement of them. The same is or would be true of laws covering ocean dumping.
