Trump says U.S. likely to go ahead with tariffs on Mexico over immigration

So, lets look at why Trump may be doing this dastardly, horrible deed, which will destroy millions of lives. Simple: The deep state claws are so deep, they control so much, and the unrestricted influx of foriegners is one of their primary weapons in destroying national identity to facilitate a move to a world government. If you destroy a countries identity, and culture, you homoginize the social structure, then you sell the idea of why we need a world wide government to ensure everything is divided up "fairly". Thus the huge muslim invasion of Europe, the wars in the middle east to force them to run, the political upheaval in south america to force them to run. Do you see a pattern? How do you fight back when only 10% of the country may actually see the big picture of all the manipulation of the last 80 years? Force them to battle. The demorats already laid down the parameters, "No emergency, no problem at border, no wall", yet there is typhus and typhoid fever breaking out in LA and San Francisco (and never a word from them on that "crisis"). So, you threaten tariffs on a country that is owned by the deep state and facilitates their machinations by ignoring any "people issues" (after you got you socialist candidate elected, there), and hammer them in what will, if carried out, crash their economy, and those of the many companies in the U.S. that, funny, have the primary support of the deep state side (Unions). The auto unions will go nuts because they will be schizophrenic, Trump may force companies to come back to the US, good for their members, but also he may hammer them when companies lay off US workers because of dropping sales. This will play out in many industries and has 2 sides, makes it cheaper to grow food and make things here, because the tariffs kill off the cheap labor thing, and also will make the US safer because we no longer import huge food amounts from Mexico, where they can be contaminated (and sometimes are) by "nefarious means". How many Ecoli outbreaks were traced to stuff brought in? How easy would it be to lace it with something much worse? How do you detect it? The war goes on....

Trump is pretty much the only one with the guts to meet a problem head-on while (the truly obstructionist) democrat socialist wannabe commies cry, whine and scream for an unattainable impeachment and gutless RINOs quake in terror.

It would seem to me the Republican House Reps could speak up a bit more for the President. If they want to side with the Dems, they should resign their position. This is getting beyond ridiculous. It's very simple, actually. Go back to our earlier immigration policies when people were put in quarantine. We could send them over to Rikers We have six state prisons in my county! We could release our criminals who aren't as dangerous as what is coming across the Border! We put American vehicular homicides (accidents) in prison for 99 years in Texas (really dangerous criminals)!

Thanks. I sat on three County Grand Juries. Our Sheriff had a sense of humor. He insisted we eat lunch once at each of the six prisons since we were, in a sense, sending folks over there. I was really enlighted by those lunches. Seeing the 'inside' makes you open your eyes. I will admit that was the best food I ever ate and I asked the some of the prisoners what they ate and their response was, 'the same thing you are eating ma'am'. I joined a young man on a piano bench (he played by ear) and was 18. I asked what he was in for and he said 'murder'!

Me dino is a retired career corrections officer. There are different kinds of murderers~the worse on death row and nutcases who need to be locked up tight.
All in all, I'd rather be around those murderers deemed safe enough to be included among the general population than sneaky sociopath thieves.

Yes a quarantine. Welcome the illegals in, bus to port, ship to Gitmo for processing. I read recently 192,000 family units were catch and released so far in fiscal 2019. A lot were single moms with no employment possibilities in sight. Therefore, straight onto the assistance dole. Read elsewhere the average family on welfare receives $37,000 (or more) annually meaning these families cost the taxpayer a cool $7.1 BILLION the first year after crossing the border. It would seem to be a lot cheaper to take the Gitmo option, especially since once word got around that's what we're doing the illegal border crossing population would become like a ghost town.

Good idea. I have a real problem with just not putting in a couple gates, and when they show up, show them to it and say "Good Luck". I didin't invite you here, this is my home, and you are not squatting here. Go fix your own country. I spent 20 years defending mine, go do it there...

While Africans have been trickling over our border in recent months, on Friday, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that “the first large group of people from Africa” were apprehended in the Del Rio sector of Texas. In total, 116 individuals were apprehended in this African caravan on Thursday morning, including 35 from Angola, one from Cameroon, and 80 from Congo.
This demonstrates that the global migration, at this pace, will be a bottomless pit, because even if we eventually empty out the northern triangle of Central America, there are unlimited regions in the world where poverty is pervasive and from which people will travel to seek the de facto amnesty being offered.

The per capita GDPs for Angola, Cameroon, and Congo are $4,247, $1,452, and $2,147 respectively – all below that of Guatemala. Would-be African migrants have so far largely lacked the family and friend ties the Central American and Mexican immigrants have after years of illegal immigration from those countries. Once the seeds from these newer countries are planted, there is nothing stopping the illegal immigrant chain migration phenomenon from spreading to other parts of the globe in the coming years.

But when it comes to countries like Congo, there is an entirely new dimension of concern – dangerous contagious diseases. While the problems of mumps, tuberculosis, scabies, and chicken pox from Central America are bad enough, the influx of African migrants takes the concern of contagious diseases to an entirely new level.

Congo is experiencing the worst Ebola outbreak in recent memory, with over 1,300 fatalities since last August. The Ebola virus is extremely deadly, and there are no vaccinations or reliable treatments for it. While CBP noted that the group of Africans was given a medical screening, the challenge with Ebola is that the initial symptoms are often unremarkable, such as such as fever, headache, and weakness, and are therefore difficult to diagnose shortly after the infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control. In fact, according to the CDC, “When someone gets infected with Ebola, they will not show signs or symptoms of illness right away.”

With family units being released within days, often within hours, how can our government be certain that Americans, not to mention Border Patrol and local health officials, are not being put in danger? This is why the law (8 U.S.C. § 1222(a)) requires the government to detain all migrants “for a sufficient time to enable the immigration officers and medical officers to subject such aliens to observation and an examination sufficient to determine whether or not they belong to inadmissible classes.” This was for all migrants. It was always presumed that we would never take in people from specific countries that were experiencing deadly epidemics.

I asked CBP’s press office whether CBP has a different protocol for dealing with migrants from Congo or other African countries with risk of diseases, such as not releasing the migrants as immediately as Central Americans. A CBP spokesperson replied that “the process is the same, officers and agents review all individuals they come in contact with for signs of illness and notify CDC as needed.”

Again, Ebola and many other illnesses are not apparent through immediate symptoms, and most of these aliens are not held long enough to fulfill the dictates of given the incubation period required. It’s quite shocking that country of origin would not play a role in either making these aliens inadmissible or prohibiting their release from detention

They like the diseases, for a couple reasons. One of the reasons is more fuel for the forced vaccination argument. ("See how we protect you? Be patriotic.")

Here's my question. Why not just secure the borders? Looks like my annual trip down south may be cancelled this year. I am concerned about becoming a pawn...if you know what I mean?

It’s going to create a lot of dislocations in our economy until things readjust. Prices will have to reflect the actual amount of money printing out governmen has done

That is true, however, since the "money" we have is just fiat, it won't matter too much, but it is a real good argument to buy gold, silver and platinum now before the big boom happens...

Tariffs just make products more expensive by taxing them. If it was practical to make stuff here, it would have already been made here. This is a tax to cover the fact we have outdated immigration laws.

That is a weak answer. Many many manufacturers were forced to go to China China China because of regulations that were designed to send jobs out of our country. It is called the selling out of America. Maybe Feinstein and Biden and others will share the riches they have attained by playing on the Red Chinese team.

In many respects China has s more capitalistic economy than the USA, at least at the operational level. Production in USA is heavily regulated particularly when it comes to employees and taxes. It just costs in China 1/3 of what it costs here in the USA to make the same thing. That’s why production moved overseas

We buy 70% of our components from China in order to stay in business. Take out China and our economy will crash. Eventually things will stabilize when made in USA returns but prices will be up to 3x higher than now

That said, I don’t think China is our friend, and I don’t like supporting their communist government at all. Our government is pretty stupid to print money as it does and waste it on socialist policies. Buying from Chiba has hidden the price inflation we should be experiencing but aren’t. Bring manufacturing back to USA and we will experience the full brunt of inflation that we deserve after all our deficit spending

That is true, and the money being handed under the table and to Bidens son, will be what is used to knock us out. The system was designed to send business out, by making it required to raise your profits a huge amount per quarter or your stock died, and also, once one company moved, all their competitors had to go or die as well. Intel built a 2 billion dollar fab, and trained thousands of Chinese on how to make chips, and the story was they "had to be 2 generations behind" in technology. But the basics are there and it does not take rocket science to improve. We handed them how to build state of the art electronics on a platter.

Well, you may want to think that over.

Think China and the products flowing in from there, as an example.

We are importing everything from pocket knives to billion dollar bridges.

The Bay Bridge in SF was built by Chinese contractors. The contract was awarded to them due to the lowest bid..

During construction, it turned out there were faults in the foundation, then misaligned structures caused rejection.

Work had to be stopped, the faulty parts rebuilt, retested and qualified again.

In the end the project cost more than if they contracted it out to a US builder, who quoted a higher price but safer operation.

Cheaper import products are just that: cheaper. But if something is cheaper, there is a reason for that.

Look closer and you find the reason.

I think there should be an outright embargo on China, Vietnam, and all other totalitarian states. Not a tariff, an embargo. Also, there should be medical examinations on foreigners coming in (and maybe returning citizens), and a quarantine, if warranted. At a minimum.

In my expereience, the Chinese products are every bit as good american ones, BUT one has to specify exactly in every detail what you want made and tested.

My dad helps American companies source Chinese manufacturing. He not only translates the blueprints, but lives at the factories to oversee QC. And his stories tell just the opposite: QC is a nightmare in China. Most Chinese workers don't really care about quality - it is a cultural thing to them. They're already literally owned by the factories which provide tubes for them to sleep in and meals in a cafeteria in exchange for 12-14 hr days six days per week. Those products which do make it through QC account for typically 40% of the actual production run - the rest are defective.

Those aren't the kind of odds I want in anything I'm not going to throw away when I'm done.

I will disagree, the Chinese get away with whatever they can and are poor business people. I bought some "stainless steel braided" water lines for my sinks and withing 2 months, they had corroded to powder, made in china. Took them back to Home Depot, and they refused to take them "manufacturer defect", not ours. Numerous issues with electronics poorly made, minimal effort at quality, and horrible instructions. Engrish is not my forte.Companies went cheap, because china labor is cheap, but quality is not.

Shame on Home Depot. They selected the vendor and as a customer you are relying on the reputation of Home Depot. Obviously Home Depot isn’t doing their jjob in properly specifying what they put on the shelves.

The Chinese economy is very competitive and prices and quality vary by vendor just as they do for USA mfrs.

I would estimate that most of home depot’s ( as well other stores) Offerings are made in China at this point. I can tell you that the parts we buy from China are 1/3 the price of ones actually made here and we specify and have gotten excellent quality.

It’s up to us to do proper sourcing and stand behind our products, no matter where we source our components.

Thats where it falls apart, you understand the responsibility of a vendor to ensure his supply chain is up to snuff. Remember Mattel about 4 years ago? The contracted for a billion or so Hot Wheels, specified in the contract "No lead based paint" and then when they tested some, they had lead in it, and when they demanded their money back, the Chinese said no, and then screamed "racist".That was my defining moment with china stuff.

First article inspection is critical. We always get samples first and do lot inspections when qualifying a vendor. Our savior is the intense competition between vendors in china Don’t make it right and you lose the order. Same as with USA vendors

Note Foxconn who makes apple stuff. Whatever they do seems to work. I haven’t ever had quality issues with my iPhones

You may have been luckier on your vendor selection, but you can't generalize and apply that generalization to the entire Chinese industry.

It is well known that Chinese products are NOT as good as products made in this country and ignoring that fact would be a mistake.

You remember the Parker pens made by China decades ago, bypassing patent restrictions?

Everybody who bought them was aware they were not buying genuine Parker and they did not perform as well. But they were cheap.

I am willing to accept the idea I can’t generalize on Chinese quality based on my experiences. I do think also that Chinese quality has steadily risen over time and “ being well known” may have been borne out of earlier experiences.

If Chinese quality was so bad, we wouldn’t have lost our manufacturing sector to them. Remember that in the past American car quality was terrible and it took the Japanese to force Americans to keep even the fraction of it that’s left here

Biggest prob with Americans is that as a group we are entitled, not very ambitious, we disparage competition and capitalism

The Chinese are the opposite, which is why they are whipping our asses

term, the biggest increase in BOTH Japanese and American auto quality (amongnst others), was the adoption of statistical quality control processes (The Demming method). SPC was the biggest improvement post WW2, and Demming went to Japan to help restart their industry and they embraced it tightly. He had a much harder time in the U.S. The standard story is bout transmissions and the statistical proof of how quality in various part manufacturing significantly reduced variation and improved quality. I remember Toyota being a cheap trash truck back in the late 60's and early 70's and then rapidly became a high quality item in the 80's. We lost based on the simpletons we produce as management who only look at the cost, and cannot grasp the concept of quality as a cost measure, so they all went to China, made contracts, which the Chinese broke, and delivered inferior materials, and laughed. They then scream "racist" when a company objected. Mattel was the example of that crap. When they did that, I swore off China when possible.

Don’t forget the impact of the intense competition AMONG Chinese suppliers . I think you might be living a bit in the past and not recognizing the effect of competition on product quality and availability

                          No, they are not.

You obviously have an interest in promoting Chinese which is your business.

With all due respect I disagree with that assumption.

I dont have dog in this hunt at all. Frankly its a pain in the butt to have to order from companies 10000 miles away that speak another language. We only do it because its not possible to obtain the items we need to make our product from US vendors that make it here at a decent price.

I am not promoting the chinese at all. I have had other businesses in the USA where we were vertically integrated and made everything right here in the USA. Its just not possible financially to do the same thing in our partly capitalistic welfare society- and stay in business against the chinese imports of finished goods that we have to compete with. I have thought every time I send money over there that I am propping up a vcicious totalitarian regime and it will come back to haunt us in the end.

In Nevada they just passed a minimum wage increase which will make it even more difficult to make things here.

As to the quality issues, have to stick with what I know is true at least in my personal experience. I agree that there is a common feeling that chinese stuff is cheap crap.

I understand, that is part of the setup: send companies out of the country, for cheap labor, or materials,or whatever. Then make it so expensive to operate that no one will come back. That has been the system for the last 40 years. Any wonder the democrats and Clinton campaigns got millions of dollars in donations back in the 90's? Think about it, this has been a long time being set up. You just have to work with the conditions you have. My point is, as a consumer, I CAN impact things by not buying anything Chinese, that I can avoid, since it is usually crap.

I would agree that the establishment plays games for its own hidden benefit

I think the whole offshoring phenomenon started with American worker entitlement- taken advantaged of by collectivists here looking for votes by promising freebies

The companies reacted by trying to get rid of American workers and finding places to manufacture that cost less, had fewer regulations, and reduced the cost of lawsuits

China saw the opportunity and to their credit supplied what the companies wanted. Mexico COULD have too but did compete with China very well. China’s communists saw the opportunity to get the peasants to make money for the government and let them rule the world

Our stupid government let it all happen by increasing USA worker expectations and regulations- feeding the fire of outsourcing
Tariffs are a piss poor way to stop this. We need NOW elimination if minimum wage, overtime laws, worker regulations etc

Chinese stuff costs 1/3 of what USA mfrs charge. 25% tariff is just a tax but does nothing to shift mfg back to the USA tariffs would have to be 300% to do that, and would result in unacceptable price increases here

I will grant you that our government was in favor of the shift to China. The cost savings to companies allowed for the inflation caused by the rampant printing of money to be hidden. If manufacturing came back to the USA, prices here would rise to the levels they should have been all along

The problem was caused by government policies and I don’t think it can be fixed by boycotting China or Mexico or Canada. We need a gold standard to allow costs in China to rise and equalize trade

I support tariffs as a tool for international diplomacy. Mexico depends very heavily on the US economy so this is a HUGE stick to be waving around - and they know it. Since they have refused for more than twenty years to do anything but encourage illegal immigration into the US, its high time we punish them for it.

Now what I'd really like to see is Congress - which has exclusive control over the immigration and naturalization laws as per Article I of the Constitution - change the laws and close many of the loopholes people are using. Here's my proposal:

If you want to enter the US, there are three ways you can do so. First is a tourist visa. That means that you can come in, stay for up to 90 days, and then you go home. Anyone found violating a tourist visa is fined $2000 and deported back to their home nation - with no possibility of further entry into the United States. Anyone found in the United States after being deported for tourist visa violation is tried as a criminal combatant by a military tribunal with a minimum sentence of five years in a military prison followed by deportation. A second conviction carries with it an automatic capital sentence to be carried out by military personnel.

Second, is a green card or work permit. Your employer must apply for one of these on your behalf and your employer's company takes full responsibility for your behavior while in the United States. If you commit a crime, not only will you be prosecuted for it but so will your employer. Green cards/work permits are good for one year but may be renewed repeatedly. A green card application costs the employer $1000 and must include fingerprints, full facial photo, and a negative drug screen.

Third is to apply for citizenship. You must apply at a US consulate in your native country. You may NOT apply for citizenship at the US border. An application costs $10,000 which - less a small processing fee - is held in bond against your activities in the US. All applications for citizenship are automatically declined if not sponsored by a US citizen. US citizens applying to be sponsors may only sponsor one individual at a time and take on full legal liability for the individual they are sponsoring for five years. After the application has been approved and a sponsor approved, the applicant is permitted to move to and live in the United States where they are on probation for that five years. During their probationary period, the applicant must take and pass civics and history courses designed to inculcuate the individual into the culture and history of America. Uh, all this has been ran through over and over and over...if we just enforced existing rules, and did not let the demonrats roll us over with "family seperation" and other whiny excuses, the issue would not exist. This has been crafted by the demonrats and the deep state for a long time, to support division, getting millions of new voters through the use of "motor voter" and other illegal schemes, and no court has forced the issue, since they too are corrupt. Killing the deep state is a long term, multi threaded project, waking people up to the fact it exists and will hurt them if they don;'t get stopped, is what we need to do, and vote the Republicrats and Demonrats out.

Republicans, led by McConnell, are threatening a revolt if Trump imposes tariffs.

They have their share in the trappings and don't want to jeopardize it.

To hell with the country's interest.

Oh yes. The left is in deep silence about ANY of the consequences of their "free entry" movement.

The diseases that crop up after having been eradicated for half a century is only one of them.

Gradual conversion of neighborhoods to abide by Shariah law is another.

Put every and all aspects of life under a PC order is yet another.

This all have been carefully planned and implemented over time.

Trump is moving mountains. It is noisy and wrought with discord from the establishment whose very existence will soon cease to be.
